Potatoes

I see a lot of people bashing potatoes, saying that they're bad and how sweet potatoes are much healthier.
What is their GI.. I'm talking about normal (white?) potatoes, the ones used in french fries.
Nutrition Facts and Information for Potatoes, boiled, cooked in skin, flesh, without salt
Nutritiondata says they're very low GI, yet I read on other sites that they're high-gi.
Who's right?
