| Karky,
I'm referring to a diet balanced in the 5 basic food groups of the food pyramid. If you choose your menu servings as laid out by the USDA and other medical experts, The Mayo Clinic, Mount Sinai Medical School your menu would be heavier on the carbohydrate side and lighter on the fat side. The situation today, is reversed for most people who chose to obtain most of their calories through fats.
Mel Def,
I'm not really that well versed, just interested in the subject for me and my Lady's health. I've been researching diet and nutrition for a couple of weeks and the subject is fascinating and much more involved than grabbing something and munching away. We are making major changes to our lifestyle and planning for the next 30 years of life. I want to make sure that the changes we make are based in science and fact, and not the latest fad to come down the road. So far the best, most reliable information has come from the medical and clinical area. Because medical research is usually published to verify facts or information, I've tended to base all my research in that area. Having a Lady who is a teacher in the medical profession and having helped her grade students research papers, I have been, shall we say trained, to spot an effort to slide sometime bogus information through, so I question anything that isn't proven factually. |
