Yeah, that was a cool article. Fortunately, I don't use any of those machines anymore, though I did when I was first starting weight training an didn't know any better.

Nothing wrong with leg press. And the thigh abductor/adductor machine can be really good for rehabilitation.

leg extensions kill the knees, I stay away from them...

Neat. Like every aspect of life, anything you do will hurt you in some way or another, so why be against using the machines if it's the only way to get a lot of people familiar with going to the gym?

I think what he might be saying is that it's unrealistic to expect people who currently do workout, to just enter a gym and start squatting, deadlifting, etc etc. The machines seem much less intimidating, which is why so many people stick to them. And something is better than nothing...

Maybe not though.
