The 4 Stages of Mental Mastery

TESTOSTERONE NATION | World's Largest Bodybuilding and Weight Loss Underground Nation

"There are 4 stages to mastering your mind. Are you "unconsciously incompetent," "unconsciously competent," or do you fall somewhere in between?"

    I am on stage 3.

    What stage are you on?

I think I'm at stage 2 in terms of lifting and strength training. As for my other training goals, I am at stage 4.

When it comes to school I'm at stage 2

I'd say I'm between 3 and 4. I sometimes cheat, but I have no trouble passing on some cake or something like that.
You gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I have an anterior pelvic tilt?" Well do ya, punk!?

"Does this dress make my ass look big?" - "no, that's the anterior pelvic tilt"

I believe everyone is a bit of everything to be honest, Well stages 2-4.

    For me i believe:

Stage 1: Roughly 5-10% is probably me now.
    Stage 2: Roughly 40%
    Stage 3: 40%
    Stage 4: Roughly 10%

It all varies, to what mood im in etc.

I see me in all of them:

Stage 1 Unconscious Incompetence: Check. I do dumb stuff all day. I usually find out later and correct it, though. But sometimes I do it for a long time before I realize the error.

Stage 2 Conscious Incompetence: Check, you can knock me down, but I'll stand back up. Call me retarded, but I keep doing it over and over and over until I get it no matter how stupid I look or how bad my form is.

Stage 3 Conscious Competence: Yeah, I do this one all the time. I say I'm going to do it, but then I'm like nah, I don't want to do it. Then I go do it, and I'm like wow, I actually did it.

Stage 4 Unconscious Competence: I kind of hate the six pack abs at the end. That's not my goal. I find that I can do many things if I keep trying. Sometimes I do it without thinking, but then when I think, I fail.

The stages between 2 and 3 are very slipper slopes because its so easy to go back and forth. I find myself most of the time on 3 and 4, but then sometimes slipping back to 2.

Great article! I actually saw this the other day on another forum. I would say I'm at 3 right now. I have weeks where I'm at 4 and I have weeks where I'm a 2 so I'll say 3.

I find it's easy for me to stay focused during the week with my diet and work out but weekends are tough for the diet part. I don't eat alot of bad food but what I consider bad and what others consider bad are two very different things. I feel guilty eating regular pasta for dinner on the weekends. Very rarely do I eat fast food. But I still immensely enjoy a crunch wrap surpreme from Taco Bell once a month.

I feel pretty solid on the work out end. I'm at the gym at least 5 times a week.

I don't use fast food as a rewards system, I just say, "^^^^ it. I need calories NAO."
