A protein shake is fine as you will get a meal in later. The problem comes in when you recommend a specific designer brand or when your "eat foods and drink milk" does not include adequate protein. Remember whey is a fast protein while casein the protein in milk is a slow protein. Casein or cottage cheese would be good as a late night snack while whey is good as a PWO shake.

That article really blew my mind, totally destroyed tons of previous articles I read from that website.........
I can't believe it's not optimal to have a protein shake with fast acting carbs immediately after a workout....... it makes so much sense to do so!?!!
How long are we suppose to wait and why?!

Some people analyze too much. RWS...just eat. If you're not gaining, then eat some more.

Any other suggestions about what to eat after the workout?
For Carbs rather than Beans?
Because i also get used to eat apple and 2 slices of watermelon after the workout
For quick Carbs, but after reading this article
The best time to eat carbohydrates containing fructose will be either before your workout along with glucose or at another point during the day. You will want to avoid it post-workout, however, as during that time your main goal is to get carbohydrates into the muscle cells for recovery. This is something fructose cannot do.

The most commonly known glucose-containing foods are bread, bagels, cereal, rice, pasta, candy, and any other products made with wheat.
thx

Interesting stuff, but I've also read that you don't want ANY carbs FOLLOWING the workout for 2 hours, in order to maximize Human Growth Hormone.......
