So, you're finally thinking seriously about dropping a few pounds and have started looking for the latest and greatest programs ensuring a rapid and lasting elimination of those undesirable inches. Well, before you give in to the pills, teas and liquid lunches, consider the fact that crash diets are generally not the kinds of diets that most people can follow consistently. More importantly, they aren't nutritionally balanced, may harm the body over time, and are simply a poor method for managing your body's weight and appearance. Sadly, each "fad" appears to be practical, in theory, but you run the risk of stressing your body by throwing multiple systems out of balance.
It's certainly understandable that your ultimate desire is for a thinner physical image, but any realistic goal should also include achieving the best possible health, since being overweight is a risk factor for many chronic illnesses, including heart disease and diabetes.

No need to be a jerk. I felt this was the appropriate place for my article. If the administration doesn't agree then they may remove it. I feel my article is informative and helpful. Maybe not to you, in which case you can just ignore it, but others may not be fully aware of the things presented in the article.

So you just come on here, post a link to your site which I'm pretty sure is against forum rules and then don't contribute to any other part of this site and that makes me the jerk?

I had information to provide, I signed up and posted. I fail to see how that is not a contribution. But anyway, what makes you a jerk is how you responded to me. You could have handled your disapproval much more civil. Had I not posted a link would I have received the same response from you? I'm just curious if it's that or just that you think the article is bad?

The information is so simplistic it's worthless, but the reason I responded to you in the way I did is because this site isn't one big advertising space, read forum rules before posting next time.

i aint got no big muscle man avatar but im on the side of these boys.
anyone who fully understands the article will know its a highly watered down version of what should be a large, detailed text.
Nothing wrong with knowledgeable people joining up, but they should be smart enough to realise you're not going to wade in and supersede the heavy weights within a couple of posts. Id rather see these people post a "hi, im x, i do x for a living, ive spent x years training, i hope i can help" rather than that above. they'd get far more respect and long term influence.

Ouch! I gotta admit I feel sorry for the original poster and a little intimidated. I'm not arguing that what s/he did was or wasn't against forum policy or was/wasn't rude. I'm just saying that after reading this, I'm a little scared of posting because I wouldn't have immediately seen what s/he was doing was wrong -- so I might make a similar error and be similarly rude.
It's just intimidating, ya know? And I'm a little confused ... haven't many posters posted links to articles before? And is it only a problem on your first few posts? I guess the forum rules set out how many posts before people are allowed to post certain things... I'd better go re-read them.

Lol, after a while you'll spot loads of these people, they come on and in their first post they put up a link to their own website (often pretending they're a satisfied customer) which is often selling dodgy products. The poster was just here to make money out of people

Yeah, I can't help but put faith into your second sense. I haven't spotted any what's-the-word? Random flaming? I suppose this site is lucky though if this is the extent of your salesmen... Another forum I was on kept getting spam posts (in other people's threads a lot of the time) about porn sites.
Anywho, sorry for being a little anxious. I'm fairly shy in real life and always worry about treading on online toes.

I think we get about one sales post every couple of days but the mods are pretty good at removing links quickly and members are quick to ridicule the posts which I hope will help keep the number we get down.
We used to get a lot of ads for sim free mobiles which I thought was pretty random for a fitness site
