| | | 14 year old six pack questions Hello
Im a 14 year old male who would really like a six pack. Im about 5"9 and 120 pounds. A lot of my friends have six packs and Im starting to feel the pressure to get one. I have been doing 30rep crunches for the past week about 3 times a day adn when Im up half way for a sit up I can see a four pack forming.
I started eating much more healthly and I eat more now aswell.
What is the best and fastest way to get my six pack?
Also, what do people mean when they say cardio?
Thank you for your time,

| | | You're on the right track with dieting. You should weight lift to stimulate muscle growth.
Cardio means cardiovascular excercises. This includes running, swimming, cycling, jump roping...anything that gets your heart rate up and keeps it up for at least 30 minutes. This burns calories which promotes fat burn, letting your abs show up best. |

| | | Do some weighted ab exercises mixed with some good BW exercises, and do not do abs every day. You also need to start working your entire body, not only your abs.
Example
Mon: Squats 3 x 8 (3 sets of 8 reps of whatever you can barely handle at 8 reps), Leg Raises 4 x 15, Ab Pull-Down 5 x 12.
Tues: Bench Press 3 x 10, Overhead tricep extension 6 x 10, Dumbbell Shoulder Press 3 x 10.
Wed: Off
Thurs: Pull-ups 3 x F (Failure), Bicep Curl 3 x 10, Dumbbell Sit-ups 4 x 10, Dumbbell Side Bends 3 x 15.
Fri: Off
Sat: Off
Sun: Repeat cycle, so Mondays workout today.
Every 4 weeks or so, change and mix up the exercises. In 4 weeks, replace Squats with lunges, Bench Press with Incline Bench Press, etc. |

| | | 3 times a week of abs is sufficient. The rest is up to body fat, genetics, etc. |

| | | I agree with THBench about training your whole body. A six pack is nice, but it means nothing if you don't have a big chest and shoulders. At 120lbs, you are very skinny! No offense, but if you really want to impress your friends, bulk up, then get a six pack. |

| | | i say, its ok if you can have a six-pack almost naturally, but if you cut calories at your age, u'll stunt your grwoth. Besides, girls, aslong as they can see a little muscle development there and your TANNED - on ur abs, they think thats plently good enough! |

| | | I agree with what everyone has said so far. Just get into a workout regimine. I wouldn't take any supplements though. They can stunt your growth and all sorts of other stuff, so if anything...just eat right and drink some protein. The thing is, at your age right now, you are gonna start growing with no working out at all. A good weight training routine will help even more
Just don't over do it |

| | | I do 3-4 sets of 25-30 reps a day just crunches because I dont know any other exercises. Is that to much? Can I overdo it?
When you say drink protein do you mean protein shakes because my parents so thats a no-no adn I dont need them at my age?
I worried in case I bulk up that I'll get fat adn how do I bulk up so that I can control it and not get fat?
Thanks for the help so far. Great help |

| | | Your abs is a muscle you can't really overdo but at one point you're just wasting your time. Focus on weight lifting, cardio and diet.
When bulking, eat healthy so you minimize fat gain. You're still young...many gyms don't even let people your age lift.
Also, vary your exercises. Try stressing your obliques and lower abdominals as well with hanging knee lifts, bicycles, side crunches, reverse crunches, or decline sit ups...etc.
Good luck. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
