Exclamation Advice needed please help ASAP

I am 15 years old 5'9 140 pounds, and im completly out of shape in my upper body. I would like to get my arms chest and stomache stronger bigger and noticeable but not like a body builder whos lifting 400 pounds. I will tell you the equipment I purchased so far: two 8 pound dumbells, one 10 pound dumbell, ankle and wrist weights, a free hand bar in which I have enough that can weigh up to 35 pounds and I can still purchase more to add on. 30 pounds for me is pretty hard to lift up 20 times in a row (please dont laugh ive never even touched a weight in my life) , and I got 2 dumbells in which I can alter the weight up to 35 pounds per hand. Im not sure if I can accomplish anything with these, I can purchase some other equipment if you think its required. But Here is what I would like to know:

1. If I want to get my arms bigger how can I accomplish this? Like how many reps or sets you want me to do with what.

2. What would you guys recomend me doing for nutrition, vitamins, and getting my arms chest and stomache stronger and bigger?

3. Is there a certain workout schedule you guys follow? Like one day run, next day work out?

As you can see I am extremly new to this and have absolutly no idea what to do, any tips would help....

Thanks,

~John M

i think the answer you would most likely get to that is "you have to pay me £150 first and il tell u wat to do". I dont blame them cos that means were spoon feeding you. theres alot of books out there about nutrition and weight lifting. the point is you read through it and find out "how" it will help you. With that knowledge you would actually find it more beneficial and it drives you on as well as you know what your doing and your not just aiming in the dark. So my advice would be to read around it.

ill tell you what i do though. i go to the gym every other day. whenever i go to the gym i do 16 minutes interval training on the treadmill. on the one day il concentrate on working on my chest, tricep and shoulders. the other day i concentrate on biceps and back. my legs are chunky enough and i need to lose the fat so cardio is what is best.

im not sure what the names are for my routines though. however if you type in something like chest exercise in google there will be loads of info you can find on it. or type bicep exercise or something. thats how i found the routines that im doing now.

make sure you read around the subject, especially about nutrition!!!! cant expresss how important it is. the phrase "you are what you eat" is sooooooooooo true!

Thanks for the useless distraction, John. Read the ****ing site, read some books, hire a trainer, if you want to be a lazy ass about it.

Dude, all they are saying is read around BEFORE you ask, like any question. It's hard to start and yes you have tons of questions, as would anyone when they start, but there are tons upon tons of infomation available, and not the same thing works for everyone.

Just read around the forum, the search bar at the top will bring up some great stuff, there are quite a few sites that you can google as well, so just read a little more first.

Well since it isn't really simple, I personally plan to go to a gym and have a personal trainer as soon as I can afford to.

Of course your probably can't afford it for a while so I'm thinking the best you could do is ask for some money to go to a gym, they (the people responsible at the gym) should help you with your training and point you the right way.

As for food, some other threads on this forum have pointers/links to pointers on how you shud eat.

If you guys don't want to spend a little of your time to help this guy out, why then do you waste your time insulting him? He is just trying to get some answers to some basic questions. I doubt he realizes that his questions have some complex answers.

John, I suggest you get yourself into the gym. Most places will give new members an orientaition and a basic program to get you started. Or spend some of the money you would on weights to hire a trainer for a couple of sessions to get you started on the right path, and to ensure what you are doing is safe and effective.

hey man i didnt say anything remotely nasty to him. I was trying to help him but what hes asking for is so broad that its mad. as i said google the muscle part and add something like exercise or weight and youl find some stuff to do. I also recomended interval training. Also i said something about going to the gym. As well as that it helps to have the knowledge by reading books so that it helps motivate the guy so that he knows what hes actually doing

Crazy, I agree with you. But I did give him some help. Yes, I took time out to insult, but I feel it was appropriate in it's context and amount.

I am going to post again to defend and explain myself:

Look, basically you're comin on here sayin, 'Advice needed please help ASAP!!'. And then you go to ask questions that are common, everyday, non-threatening issues. When I clicked into this thread, I thought I was going to read some post about a guy who is bleeding all over his keyboard. Instead it's some dude (you) looking for easily attainable stuff. Some of the titles of the threads in this section meet your criteria already. Ignorance and newbness is hardly an excuse.

To clarify, yes, like Marine and AJP said. You're going to find you learn more by finding things out for yourself rather than having people do every single thing for you.

Because of this I would reccomend a trainer, think of him more as a mentor or teacher, maybe that helps. Realize that the broad info you asked for is what the men and women in the personal training industry get paid to do. No one will deny you info, but everyday someone comes on the site and says I want a workout and diet program designed for me. It will be a little slow, but you can search for anything and everything, and when you try to learn on your own, you will become interested in educating yourself and are more likely to stick with it.

STRAIGHT BAR CURLS, HAMMER CURLS

MULTI-VITAMIN - PRO/CAR/HEALTHY FATS IN EVERY MEAL - 5-7 MEALS A DAY.

THIS ALL DEPENDS ON YOUR GOALS HOEVER IT WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA TO CONSULT A TRAINER SO THEY CAN ASSESS YOUR CURRENT LEVEL OF FITNESS THEN PRESCRIBE A WORKOUT THAT WILL FIT YOUR GOALS.

As you can see I am extremly new to this and have absolutly no idea what to do, any tips would help....
