Creatine?!

Come on then, whats everyones honest opinions on the stuff?

When I was 17 I worked hard in the gym for about 2 years and put on nearly 3 stone in muscle. I started using Creatine for a short peroid and was never really sure if it was working or not.

Anyway due to an injury I had to give up the iron game but now, over a year on I am back in the gym again. I am already beginning to see results but Iam thinking about giving Creatine another go.

Just like to find out what everyones opinions on it are???

yup, about 3-4g every day, post workout in my PWO shake.

no need to load.
no need to exceed 5g a day.
no need for anything fancier than creatine monohydrate...$15 for 500g...lasts you 3-4 months.

It's great, no super-drug, but it helps.

So you take 3-4g AFTER your workout?

Do you ever mix with apple juice, energy drink or water?

it goes in my PWO whey shake, to which I add dextrose. but the dextrose isn't for the creatine, its for my muscle glycogen stores. you have a natural insulin spike post workout...a sugar delivery system is unnecessary.

Can you just take a heaped spoonful of it and wash it back with water or do you actually have to mix it with the water?

you can do that too lambo. most just fine it a lot harder to do that, than mix it in water and slam it fast before it settles.

Yep.. Once you are fully saturated, you can pretty much use any liquid as a transport. One thing to keep in mind is that there are some people who are considered creatine 'non-responders'.. So, while creatine is proven to have beneficial effects on your strength output, it doesn't seem to work for 100% of those who use it.

Thanks Malkore, your really helpful mate!

Ive bought a 600g tub of York Creatine so Iam doing the loading process at the moment. 5 heaped teaspoonfuls a day for 5 days and just washing it down with water or fruit juice.

Hopefully I start to see the benifits in the next couple of weeks!

if your kidneys are healthy, then no serious side effects. get enough water, and you won't have any cramping.

but I wouldn't worry about 5 servings a day to load. if you take 1 serving a day you'll still get loaded up, and its easier on the stomach and kidneys. that's why I said originally "no need to load".

I'm all for the stuff. as it was already said, it's no wonder drug, but once you get used to it, it helps. personally i'm a fan of cycling it on and off. but seriously, don't take my word on it, try it yourself for a cycle and see if you like the results enough to keep it up. good luck man and post some results down the line.
