| | Seriously, five different exercises is at least two too many.
Do what Tony said, although personally I'd be doing the Flys with dumbells, which is what I think he meant to type. |

| | | cusimar9...yes 4 or 5 exercises is too much. If you are pushing yourself correctly, your chest should not enough energy to do 3 more sets of another movement. If anything, do 1 set of pushups to failure as a good burnout at the end of your chest day (failure being the point in which your form breaks)
4 or 5 movements are only needed when you are pretty well a seasoned lifter and your body needs more punishment to build. When I say seasoned, I'm talking 3+ years of steady workouts, no "breaks" that last for 3 months at a time. |

those target the lats, while pecs are synergists. not saying its bad, just that it should be thought of as a compound back/lats exercise. |

| | | Those aren't really a compound exercise if you think about it. Plus, I don't think that they directly hit the chest. Pressing movements hit the chest. They are good for stretching and warming up your shoulders I think, but I wouldn't incorporate them into a mass building chest routine |

| | I meant bent arm not straight arm. Bodybuilding.com says they are a chest exercise. I have always done them because I like the stretch. They have always seemed to increase the size of my chest. Bodybuilding.com - Exercise Guides Database. |

| | | Its the same exercise either way.
i feel the stretch in my chest, but its the lats that pull your arms...the chest is a pressing muscle.
looks like bodybuilding.com has it entered wrong in their database. |

| | On this video Rusty Jeffers seems to say that the pullover is a chest exercise?
It also seems that a cable crossover has the same movement as the pullover (pulling as opposed to pushing) yet it is also considered a chest exercise. I am confused. http://thefitshow.com/week23/wm/week23_wm_lg.htm |

| | | cable crossover is for chest, its a fly movement, pressing the arms together using the pecs primarily.
unfortunately I can't view video at work so I'll have to remember to check your link at home.
i'm not saying the chest isn't used for pull overs...just that its not hte primary muscle used/targeted. |

| | | Ive seen the pullover used primarily as a chest exercise although it's too uncomfortable for me to perform. Judging by the movement, I'd say it's more lats though. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
