Pushups

when performing pushups, does the overall outcome benefit more the back muscles or the chest? The paranoia that I have about pushups is that they will strengthen my chest muscles, thus causing my posture to suffer. Or does it perform the opposite?

They are primarily an exercise for the pectoral (chest) shoulder and tricep muscles.

hehehe
but any excuse for not doing them will do.

i will also add this. The pushup when done properly and slowly also works the abs and lower back as a result of the plank position.
