The right push-up?

Hey guys,

I've been doing a large number of push-ups in my regiment lately, looking to target my pectorals, but I've always only felt sore in my serratus (The rib-shaped muscles on your sides, in case I'm using the wrong term) instead. Is there any way for me to specifically 'force myself' target the right area?

When you do the pushups try placing your hands on the floor in the same position as you would on the bar for bench presses. Place them just above the nipple line about shoulder width apart. Really focus on your form. Be sure you are strictly going straight up and down and not allowing yourself to rock foreward or backwards. Give that a try and see if it changes anything for you.
