Swimming

Totally unrelated to my other thread but why is swimming never mentioned in this forum?

I have some swimmer friends and they seem to have muscular and extremely! lean bodies with very very defined abs and muscles..

Will swimming build up the muscles or just lean you out?

I don't think swimming will give you muscles alone but maybe your friends are working out in the gym as well as swimming?

I swim very frequently and swim in a team but I look very slim with small muscles-but they are all very well defined, and because I am a butterfly and breastroke swimmer I have the V chest shape-Thin waist, larger chest and shoulders. People are surprised how strong I am compared to my weight (55kg) but unfortunately I do not look it. I have gained a lot of muscle tone using weights recently, but my actual strength came from swimming, but it didnt bulk me up. Try using a float between your legs and swimming breastroke while pulling your head in and out of the water. That toned my back and chest very quickly! Hope that helped!
