Weighted Crunches

Hi, may seem like a silly question to some but i feel asif i know the anser just want it confirming.

To perform weighted crunches i would put a dumbell or two possibly on my chest and then just perform the crunch with the weights on my chest?
This would have a better effect than just a usual crunch?
Also where should i have my hands while doing this ? Behind my head?

Thanks

if you were to do this on a swiss *exercise* ball, u would hold the weight behind your head, and crunch slowly up and hold for 2 seconds and down. with a slow tempo. u will definitely feel the burn.

yes. it will have better effect. and again, ur abs will only start to pop out once you reached the certain BODY FAT % , around 13-15 % i'd believe, it will start showing. 11 % and below would be ripped.

if you tried putting the weight on your chest, it would work, but won't be as intensive as behind your head. I know because I've done this exercise alot of times. =]

3 sets of 15 would be sufficient for you.
3 times a week

Hey, thanks for the reply. I know about the body fat and so on my abs are showing now most of the time, but in certain lights they dont lol so their not done as far as im concerned. Im just interested if this has a better effect.

Anyway i dont have a swiss exercise ball at the moment ... so would having the weights behind my head be effective while im performing the crunches on the floor? More effective than they would be on my chest ?

do u happen to have a decline bench at home?

&

about doing it on the floor, u might want to try it first on ur chest, because it would probably be a bit difficult having the weight behind your head. * i personally never did ab workouts on the floor with weights but, seems like a okay** idea =] *

when i'm on the floor, I usually do vertical crunches as well as bicycles, with hands behind your head. <-- highly recommended.

um. how bout trying the dummbell behind ur head on a swiss ball next time u hit the gym? btw, its one of the most thought after ab workouts, from various magazines i've read =]

&

with your ab workouts, seems like u might be doing the same ab routine all the time, u need to switch it up =] causes more growth for your abdominals.
