    Perspective...

Perspective: Most of the time I have it but sometimes like today I lose it....

I know I have lost a good amount of weight in a relatively short period of time:

    Start: 22 Jan 2008 @ 215.6 pounds
    Feb : 22 pounds
    Mar : 13.64 pounds
    April: 7.26 pounds

    Last week: 173.58 pounds

BUT some days I catch a glimpse of myself and my eyes dart around taking in the reflection of myself and seem to project negative thoughts back to my self... i feel like its not good enough....

I need to remind myself that I am an extremely fortunate girl who lives in the lucky country where we can do what we want and achieve ANYTHING we want... no war, no restrictive political parties and no starvation.... The list could go on forever. I am blessed with amazing family and caring friends and a fiancé who love me... (he proposed to me when I was at my biggest)

I feel like maybe I am obsessing over my body.... in the grand scheme of things maybe its just about being happy? striving for being the best version of myself.....

I am just typing my thoughts here so there is no real question but it would be good to hear if anyone else goes though this type of tooing and froing...?

    Snap out of it Kat!!!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself. you're doing awesome! keep up the good work and go with the flow. you've created a healthy lifestyle for yourself and you should be proud of that. i think no matter what size or shape, we all deal somewhat with the same issues, so don't worry and just keep doing what you are doing. And, Congrats on the weight loss!

Your mind is playing tricks on you. Now that you're into health and all that, you are starting to notices things on your body that you previously didn't pay attention to.

Is it all in your mind? Yes.

Don't stress out on it. Just don't look in the mirror and make negative remarks. Just think positive and you will look positive. It's all about the mind.

Take it easy. You lost quite a lot and I'm sure you look fantastic. Bombastic! Okay, I'm out of words, but you get the point. Don't stress. Keep up the good work.

Kat, you are doing a great job!

We are our worse critic, but know that you are now working on being more healthy and it is showing in your progress! I think our society puts a fake image of what is "beautiful". When in reality there are many different versions of beauty which is why "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

recognize your inner beauty, it's staring you right in the face

    cheers!

Thanks Dallen - you are right! The mind is amazing but also can be destructive... I have once again wiped out all the negative and focused on the positive.

I think girls really are their worst critics!.... yeah I think if we lived on a deserted island wihtout mirrors or magazines we wouldnt feel this way.... but considering we dont! we have to be strong focused and positive and of course inner beuty far surpasses exterior beuty!....

    Thanks & Cheers

We all have our dark days and ask ourselves, why are we putting ourselves through this pain of weight loss?

Now that you have re-gained your motivation, write it down on a piece of paper and read it once every so often to remind yourself why you are changing your lifestyle. While you are at it, add more positive things to that list as you come across more reasons to it.

I am glad to hear that you are back on the saddle and working out again. Congradulation on the weight loss, hard work, and dedication.

    Hey MissKat,

How are you doing? I was thinking of ways I kept myself motivated when I was loosing weight and thought I would share (one woman to another )

I found a pair of jeans that I could fit like a year prior, and hung them on the wall in front of my treadmill (I work out at home-not sure if you do, but if you have a place that you see everyday you could put whatever inspires you-pic, clothes, etc...there) I also kept a good size calendar in front of my treadmill on the wall, and for everyday I worked out I marked an "X" in a fat black marker. For every day I didn't, I marked an "X" in a fat red marker.

For me having the visual reminders helped me to keep going.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Diane

    it is not only girls....

I have this problem alot too.

I came from 240 lbs very fatty, and with a 46 inch waiste, busting the seams.

Being 183 and low body fat, slightly muscular, with a 33 inch waiste is not good enough hardley ever.

I went to church today and was asked by a couple of people if I had been really sick. the tendons are showing in my forearms, I have veins surfacing in my legs, my jaw line is hard, and I am in primo ironman shape.

AND- I feel fat most of the time. I still think about food, and staying our of the mirror is a challenge.

Realizing body image is a factor helps me to remember it's abotu health, not alwys vanity.

having a few good peeps that will keep you straight is good. Posting pics here and letting us be the judge is good. I have a 16 year old daughter that is very "real" with me.

FOR ME, and maybe for you too Kat- is hat WE REMEMBER WE ARE NOT A GOOD PERSPECTIVE OF OURSELVES.

    LOOK LESS, and LIVE MORE.

    stop looking down at yourself
    try to limit mirror time
enjoy how you FEEL! Listen to the compliments you get and internalize them.

    understanding,
    Todd
