| | | Will I be unable to truly obtain a great body..... if I do not follow macronutrient diet plans to the "t" and if I do not follow some professional diet program like SGX?
I do not eat any junk food anymore. I work out 3 times a week 1 hour each of those days. I eat 5 times a day. When I finally start cutting, I will probably be just doing a basic calorie deficit and cardio.
I am finally getting into whey protein powder and that will help me reach 150-175g of protein a day (I weigh 151 lbs). I will be increasing this to 200g of protein a day probably to maintain muscle mass when I cut.
I am now worried that I will probably never reach what I desire doing basic things like this. Do I have to follow some rigorous macronutrient specific diet plan consisting of 6-8 meals a day of deadly specific meals to even have a hope of a chance of becoming ripped? Do I need to do things like eat 11 oz. of chicken breast at 8:30 AM and then eat 5 egg whites at 9:35 AM and then at 11:30 AM eat a variety of foods to accomplish a set %age of protein/carbs/fats? I always thought that never again eating any junk food is a big step in that direction, but I don't know if that will ever be enough.
I just would like to know the real deal. Will what I'm doing ever be enough?
Thanks for any help.

| | | Great bodies require great discipline. Athletes, cover models, body-builders, power lifters all require tremendous diet discipline. |

| | | Hmm is that a "yes you're on the right track" or a "no, you won't achieve great results by just doing basics"?
I mean, I have the discipline down, it's just my schedule prevents me from going through all those badass diet plans or whatnot.

| | | It all depends on your definition of great.
Is it Arnold in his prime?
Is it Clarence Bass?
Is it (fill in the blank)?
If after a while your plan isn't getting you to your definition of great, then you will have to do something else. |

| | | You should be able to make good progress without being totally anal about your diet. You just might make slightly faster progress if your diet were absolutely perfect. In the long term all that really matters is that you are making progress: continuous improvement. And remember almost all the experts argree that an occaisonal cheat meal or day or even week is necessary to maintain progress over the long term. |

| | | I will progress better with a cheat meal than without? Sounds too good to be true.
I am looking for a Ryan Reynolds look in Blade Trinity or even a Tobey Maguire look in Spider-Man, those two are my ultimate goals. As for my "I want to be this way at least" goal, I would have to say as lean as possible pretty much which I'm hoping is pretty lean.
Now I know or I have heard at least that to get below 10% b/f, I will have to try something like advanced carb cycling or the like. I don't mind having to try that, but I would like myself to be lean and nice before I have to think about going beyond into an advanced diet.
Also, I will never stop working out. I have told myself this and due to my high discipline, I can see myself dying at the age of 95 next to a 330lb. barbell. That's just an example I'm throwing out there.

| | | It depends on your ultimate goal. Eating healthy and following a good exercise routine will ultimately yield results but how fast the results are coming depends on commitment, a cheat meal once a week wont harm. |

| | | "Won't harm" is all good, but I would rather not cheat at all if it means better gains faster. |
