Do you like to meditate in silence or listen to music? I can never seem to find a quiet enough place to concentrate without distraction so I have been listening to music to drown everything else out. Some old favorites are Enya and Clannad but I heard a new group at Universal awhile ago called Secret Garden and I really liked it. Beautiful and soothing...perfect for meditaion. Any other fans? I will post a link below for those of you that would like to hear a song. Let me know what you think
"Sometimes When It Rains"
"Always There"

I love music for working out and running... But, for meditation I prefer natural sounds. If it must be inside, try a mini waterfall or even a CD from Natural Wonders of outdoorsee sounds.

(:

yeah...I agree, natural sounds are nice for mediataion too. I just like the Secret Garden CD because I can listen to it while I'm meditating, lounging around, cleaning the house...whatever. I am a fan of a lot of music I've just been listening to their new album a lot lately.

From what I understand, any kind of sounds are a bad thing. The whole point of meditation is to reach the inside of you; ie letting go of the outside world.

Why meditate? Is it to reduce stress, relax, improve the body's health, improve brain functioning, and basically to empower yourself? If this is the case, then there is no need for meditation when you can simply listen to Chris Cornell. In particular the Temple of the Dog album and Chris Cornell's Euphoria Morning Solo Album are the most relaxing, intelligent and divine words thee shall ever listen to.

I don't meditate, but I know that when I listen to Josh Groban, I relax. For some it's nature sounds, others it classical. For me, it's Josh Groban.

Right now I meditates in silence but I think that it can be done with soft music
also because according to me meditation is a means of transforming the mind
and it's upto us that how do we do it.
