Pilates was born in Duesseldorf, Germany

Hi,
"Pilates, the new trend from the U.S." is something I read yesterday, and it made me wonder. Official sources tell me that Joe Pilates was born 1880 in Duesseldorf, Germany, although - admittedly - his first studio opened in New York. I'm posting this message to ask if anyone knows about places of historic interest to visit in Duesseldorf, since I live only an hour away from the city.
