Can anyone suggest any proven ways for weight loss?????

Hi everyone, I have been really obsessed with my weight problem. I am a 33 year old female and have gained 90lbs which makes the count to 210. I recently took out some of my summer clothes and they don’t fit me anymore!!! This is a real tragedy for me. How can I not wear the ones I adore...moreover the new look is getting me mad (with the comments from my friends). I know quite a few ways to start losing weight…….but I don’t really feel that, with so many people failing using these methods that I will make it through. Does anyone know a proven way to reduce the weight?

Please help me…..this is killing me!!!

There's only one way, to burn more calories than you consume

Look at the nutrition 101 sticky on this site, work out your BMR and then track your calories every day to ensure you're consuming less than you burn (don't go too overboard though).
Add some cardio and weight training into your week and you'll see the pounds fly off

If you aren't down with the whole eating healthy and exercising thing there is always crystal meth. It is proven to make you lose weight.

The proven method is simply changing your lifestyle for the better. You need to sit down and analyze your current lifestyle, what you can change, and what you can go on with. By fitting exercise and nutritional changes that fit around you, it makes it easier to maintain a healthy weight and mental state. By following a plan that doesn't fit your lifestyle, then you might lose weight, but the mental stress may be too great which will cause you to relapse to your old lifestyle habits.

Gaining over 90 pounds is quite a lot. Perhaps you had life problems? Maybe a recent death or other major life changes which can cause you to gain weight by over eating and/or non-active lifestyle. Try to find alternatives to dealing with stress than eating. Perhaps a group therapy can help you with dealing with stresses.

Simply following a strict diet plan and/or excessive exercise don't work for everyone. I mean if you got a goal in mind, then you can do this. However, if you just want to better yourself, then you need to drastically change your lifestyle rather than attempting to do a diet/exercise routine.

Your description is vague. Please explain your plans and we can make comments. Remember, everyone is different and simply telling you to do something may or may not work in the long run.

Some tips for healthy lifestyles:

* Get a friend to report to. Perhaps your family, close friend, or simply a stranger (I'll be happy to hear your report if you decide to). If you don't have anyone to report to, or if you feel like it's out of place, get a pet. A dog is a great listener to all your problems. By having someone to report to, it makes sticking to your plans a bit easier and not only that, your friend can complement on you. Of course, a dog can't talk, but it sure can run.

* Do exercises you like to do. Don't try to do things that make you sweat like crazy. If you like walking, go for a walk. If you like running, go for a run. Of course, you can try new things, but if you don't like it, then don't do it. As long as you start to do something, then do it.

* Start eating healthy. Healthy eating doesn't mean all you eat is fruits and veggies. What healthy eating means is that you understand what you are eating, when you're full, when you need more, when you need less. It takes a while. Also, start eating at home instead of ordering out. A lot of modern people don't know how to cook. Learn to cook and understand which ingredient is needed and not needed. By eating at home, you save a lot and not only that, it is far more healthy than ordering out.

* Do it the "hard" way. Instead of relying solely on modern convenience, try out things by doing manual labor. For example, hang out the clothes to dry instead of just tossing it into the washer. Also, if your grocery is right down the streets, ride a bike to the store to get things you need. By doing things manually, you burn calories and on top of that you save money (ex. wind is free to dry whereas dryers cost money).

Etc.

Jassey,

I'm new here and I can tell you that I weighed 308 pounds and today I got on the scale at 256 pounds. That's 52 pounds now in about 7 months. I've got about 60 to take off yet, a little more.

So that's what you want to do, right? Take it off? I can give you a few tips.

Most people who lose large amounts of weight have a few things in common.

First off it has to do with motivation. People tend to finally hit bottom like a drug addict that wakes up one day and says this is it,I'm going to get help and get off drugs. I wont go any lower. So you have to have that moment when you finally realize that you must lose weight. You can no longer be ashamed of yourself. You want to be around for Children, Grand Children. You don't want to have all the diseases that obesity can bring on. Something has to trigger you to "hit bottom".

Secondly, most people that take weight off and keep it off control portions. You can call it calories, but they take control of how much food they eat and how many calories they are thus consuming. In the end you must use more calories than you eat.

Thirdly, it usually involves increased exercise.

Now, you can lose weight simply by controlling portions but that leaves out the motivational aspect and exercise. Usually it takes all three. When I get up every day I have to tell myself to "be good". I keep a weight diary by the bathroom scale and every day I record the date and my weight before breakfast. I know exactly where I am, I can look back over a period of a few weeks and see my progression. and more importantly, first thing in the morning I step on that scale and I'm reminded that I'm in a battle to lose weight and today is just another day that I have to be good.

I saw a nutritionist who taught me how to eat healthy, correct portions, how to read food labels, and she set up a plan for me based on calories. So she did the calorie work and all I have to do is keep following my meal plan. The nutritionist was what I needed. To know that every four weeks for several months I would stand before her, on a scale, and she would know if I had followed the diet or not. So in the beginning, she helped me with motivation.

I have come to the conclusion that to get it off then keep it off...I must change the way I think about life. I must accept the fact that without control I will become an obese pig. I have come to believe that every single day I must eat healthy food, control my portions, exercise, and remind myself daily why I'm going to do that. Control, motivation, exercise. It's that or going back to being the obese slob that I was. I don't ever want to go back. I'm going to change the way I think and change it until the day I die. Which hopefully is now further out because I'm doing the right things.

That's how I'm doing it. As of today I've taken 52 pounds off and I have 66 pounds to go. Can I do it? At 308 when I needed to lose 118 pounds I would have told you it's impossible and I probably can't do it. But now, with 66 pounds to go, I'm saying don't bet against me. I'm going to get there one meal at a time, one snack at a time, one pound at a time.

Today I'm going to get up on my Schwinn recumbent exercise bike and spend 30 minutes peddling against resistance. I'm going to do this because the human body requires exercise and I'm finished with being 308 pounds.

You CAN do it, of course you can. Are you ready to do it? Most fat people don't want to be fat, but they aren't ready to work it off. They need to find some motivation and maybe some help. Doctor, nutritionist, health club weight loss program, something to assist.
