Hello!

I'm new to the whole fitness thing. I hated sport at school, and I like take away and carbs. I'm not obese, but I'm definately larger than I'd like to be.

I have goals I want to reach, because in the past year (I'm 20) I've started to play roller derby and go to the gym, and suddenly working out seems like fun. As much as I love going to the gym, I'm a bit stuck on how to get the results I want. These are my short term fitness goals:

- Getting below 20% body fat (Currently 28%)
- Getting a stronger core
- Evening out my legs (My right leg is larger then my left- Roller derby skates in one direction)
- Getting my legs stronger
- perkier butt
- Improving CV endurance (being able to skate at a high intensity for 30 minutes straight x2 with a 20 minute break in between)

In the longer term I'd like (these are all based on pictures):
- Legs and butt like Lady Gaga
- Stomach like Fergie
- Less than 15% body fat
- Great CV endurance (being able to skate at a high intensity for 1.5 hours straight)

I'd love any tips on how to achieve these goals, as well as anything to speed up fat loss (ie fitness shakes/pills, not "diet" pills.) I'd also like recovery tips: how do you keep going without getting dehydrated or exhausted? It seems that my brain wants to go but my body cant :)

Peace!
Emah.

Hello all,

I'd like to introduce myself and explain why I'm here. At 5'4 and 85 pounds, I'm currently very underweight. I think my BMI is close to a 15!! My ribs and ribcage are all visible. I have slightly underdeveloped muscles--I look like I'm in shape, though, probably because there's little to no fat on me. I'm frequently cold and my legs are always tired. I have recently made big changes in my diet in the past two months--incorporating more protein and lifting weights. I used to feel sluggish and get bloated after eating, and I think I was suffering from anemia and protein deficiency--I feel so much better and energetic now that I've changed my diet, though! But today I hopped up on the scale and noticed that instead of gaining weight, I actually dropped 3 pounds (I was at 88 last time I weighed myself)! What am I doing wrong? Why can't I gain weight? Help me out, guys, I'm pretty worried!

Hey there.

My name is Brian and I'm from Edmonton, Alberta. Currently, I'm out of shape and overweight. My physical condition is no where like I'd like it to be. I got laid off from my job with the Railway last December and since then, my physical activity has plummeted to nothing.

I've decided (well, decided about a 3 weeks ago now.) to do something about it. I got a membership to the local Y and am starting out going every second day working on the Eliptical. I decided I want to work my way to joining the Canadian Forces and therefore I have a lot of work to do.

First, I'm not terribly concerned with weight loss specifically. I'm concerned with getting physically fit. My first goal is to double all the entrance standards for the Canadian Forces for physical fitness. From there, though, I want to continue on forging my body into the machine that it is supposed to be.

Second, I don't have the finances to be able to afford a personal trainer. I've seen Starting Strength being recommended for beginners and am going to be looking into it for designing a practical workout schedule for me. I'm just starting with cardio because I know I need endurance more than anything right now.

Third, I'd love your suggestions for what I should do for exercise without equipment here at my desk. I work a schedule of 4 days on, 4 days off, at a desk from 1730 to 0530 the next day. It is generally very slow at my work so I would love to do some of my training regimen here at work.

Anyway, that's me. I'll be starting a journal soon to profile how I'm doing.

-Brian

Hello all. This is Kevin from montgomery Al. Not a native by any means, but this is where the AF told me to go, so here I am.

I have always been a fairly active person and love sports. I am in a BF% competition here at work and hopefully i can use it to keep me motivated. I can kind of ADD when i get ideas in my head. They sound good now, but later i want to be lazy, and nothing comes of it. It is a vicious cycle that has caught me a couple times in my life, and I am trying to break it.

I have more info here on my first journal entry http://training.fitness.com/journal/...tic-43380.html
And will continue to lurk and contribute when i think i have something worthwhile to say.

A pre-emptive thanks to all who read this, and have a great day.

Hey everyone!

My name is Liz and I'm big into fitness. I'm currently in school to be a nutritionist (I just started biochem, eeek!) and am weighing in at 164cm, 55kg, 18% body fat. My goals are to get down to 14 before next years fitness comps and 16 before the end of this year.

My fiancee and I are in a competition to see who can loose the most body fat in a month. I know it seems like I got the raw end of the deal but unlike my man, I've got self control! I just bake cookies and let him eat them all! Terrible, I know! Currently he's at 18.2% which PISSES him off. How bad is it when your missus has less body fat than you!? Ha!

I came here because I am SICK of people telling me I can't be fit or train to a modest 14% without steroids, telling me I'm gonna look like ****, saying I'm gonna be too muscular. SCREW THEM. I'm not going for 7 or anything (but good on ya those who are!)... my trainer is at 5.1% currently and is a muy thai champion in Australia. HE gets it.

My fiancee is thrilled with my fitness interests. He really likes all the body types I'm showing him that I'm going for. I even caught him feeling up my abs the other day! Not bum or boobs for this man. Yay!

He's working to look like Triple H and with his body type I think he can. I've already posted heaps of inspirational photos everywhere I can and I've been running an hour a day and gymming it 15 hours a week minimum. My diet has been great and I've never felt better in my LIFE.

So **** all the haters, I thought I'd come here.

Whoops, long intro!
