This is a better option to the lever action gyms.

Everyone is asking about lever action gyms, but the truth is, they simply isolate a particular muscle, in a straight-line fashion, so stabilizers are largely taken out of the equation. For those who need something compact, can't get a bench and rack/cage, the following is a good option:

It uses a independant handles on cables so it closely mimics dumbbells. Add to it:

and it's at least starting to get to something worthwhile.

However, it doesn't need to be a Hoist V2, any stack system that uses independent handles on cables is a decent option.

However, you simply can't beat the barbell, dumbbell, bench and rack, but at least a cable system is getting there. Now if they could have an actual squat and deadlift system, it's stepping into the arena.

EDIT -- scratch the leg press. I don't think it works with the V2.

At nearly $2000, it's not much of an option to someone who's looking to spend $600. I'd still avoid them as being lever action, working along a linear motion that isolates particular muscles and taking many stabilizers out of the equation. For $2000, I'd get a powertec cage, with cable attachment, my Body solid bench, powerblocks to 130lbs, mats, swiss ball and probably still have enough left over for a high end rubber or poly coated plate set.
