I have owned my powerblocks for over seven years now.

My set goes from 5 lbs to 45 lbs with the movement of a pin. they ar small but a tad bulky. because ot the design I cannot do wrist curls and behind the neck tricep extentions are a tad uncomfortable. My dad bought them for himself when he refinanced the house but later discovered that he did not have the drive to use them everyday. Only because I have used them these past years can I safely say that they are worth $239/pair ($59 S/H) which is a sickeningly high price but last I heard most dumbells sell for about a dollar a lb so I guess you would be saving money. so as sad as it sounds price is not a factor. And having dumbells in your bedroom is every bit as helpful to your training as you tink it might be. I work out at home about as much as I do at the gym. my biggest criticism is that I am much stronger now than when I first got them and I am ready for an upgrade. no upgrades are available. Still having a couple bulky dumbells floating around and 1 pair of powerblocks is much nicer than installing a powerblock.
So I give the PowerBlock 5 ninjafaces out of 5 . So go get another job so you can buy your own
Now the better known mainstream adjustable dumbell is the SelectTech dumbells

these things are BULKY. the sides do not get shorter. They are about a third the length of a broomstick and never get shorter. They go up to 52.5 lbs which is 7. 2 lbs more than my dumbells. shipping is free and the company offers payment options unlike PowerBlock. Weights are in 2.5 increments. Not 5 like the powerblock. but the cost is $399.00
I would just save up and buy the powerblock the hard way. they feel much better in my hand and are better balanced. But it will do all it promises. So I give these uncomfortable thngs
4 out of 5 ninjafaces
