| | | How will a Rowing Machine Change my Body? Hi Im new. I joined here cause I have about 40kg to lose, and I need to lose it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
I am female, and have a triangular shaped body - that is, my problem is not the usual pear shaped that most females complain about - thighs, butt.
I have a problem with upper body fat. My butt and legs are lean.
I have started using my rowing machine again, as I recently read that rowing is probably the most effective form of exercise there is. I plan on combining rowing with abdominal exercises.
Can anyone tell me how rowing will change my physique. I dont want 'muscles' or any sort of bulk, but my dream body is lean, and just perfectly shaped. Can I achieve this with rowing?
Thank you! |

| | | Rowing is a great aerobic conditioning type exercise. I highly suggest you get your nutrition right (look for stickies to help). Post your actual workout and be specific (such as time span, any pain or technical difficulties etc.)
Get that started and you will get help. Also rowing is mainly working legs (as most aerobic things do). Trust me, I rowed in college and trained a few rowers later on. These guys stayed very lean and I made them hit the weights....HEAVY weights. Women rowers do much of the same... so be careful as to dismiss strength training for only those who want bulk. |

| | | The stickies are located at the top of the subforums pages. By post your workout he means post what you do.
E.g.
I row 10 mins on the rower
3 x 15 Floor crunches etc |

| | I have four concept 2 rowers and use the heck out of them with my clients and myself. Awesome full body blaster. They are incredible for intervals and steady state cardio. They are also great to work into a HIIT circuit. Concept 2 has some great sample workouts on their website. newjerseycrossfit.com |

| | Rowing is an awesome full body workout. I have a WaterRower at home and the club I go to has Concept2 rowers. I feel I get a much more complete workout on a rower compared to any other machine (bike, eliptical, etc.) for a given period of time.
The WaterRower website has a nice animated video and some good information about rowing workouts. It also shows the correct technique. I see lots of people use rowers with poor technique. Rowing Excercise |

I plan on combining rowing with abdominal exercises. | I've been rowing with Concept 2 rowers for over 15 years - you get an amazing workout with them ....and can do anything from 1, 2, 3 hour rows to HIIT training you can do in less than 30 minutes.
You can't go wrong with a rower !
This is a good link that covers " Rowing for Weight Loss " Rowing and Weight Control Quote:

Thank you! | The answer to your question is - yes.
This shows you the muscles used when you row.... Muscles Used While Rowing
I'd also suggest you look at the U.K. Concept 2 site - they have a great ' weight loss ' section - there is a lot of other fitness / fat loss info there and I find it to be the better that the American site ( as far as the breadth of info provided is concerned ).................
