silly question about an elliptical trainer
I'd really like to buy an elliptical trainer to use at home....BUT i live in a 2nd floor apartment. Do you think that it would be too loud to have in my apartment? I don't want the people downstairs getting angry, but I REALLY want one at home. I don't think they seem too loud in the gym, but...I could be wrong. Advice?

The ones we have at the gym at pretty quiet, I don't think you would have any trouble with one on the 2nd floor.

As long as it doesn't bounce across the floor I'm sure it will be fine.

thanks for all the advice - i didn't think they ever seemed too loud at the gym, but i wasn't sure. Didn't want to spend the money on one and then not be able to use it because its too loud! Thanks!

You should be fine. If you were going to be using a treadmill it might be a different story. One of the major benefits of an elliptical machine is the fact that they allow low impact exercise. You're more likely to make a lot of noticeable noise on a treadmill because of the constant pounding of your feed on the equipment. No worries - no one will be complaining even if they happen to hear a slight hum through the ceiling.

just get one and if the neighbours dont like it tough bickies. If you are really worried about it though I would rent one first and see if it makes alot of noise.

the ones at the gym are typically louder than models you can buy for the home - just picked up the life fitness X1 - toddler sleeps soundly next door!! For your apartment, check out the even quieter models - X2 and above!

In my opinion most crosstrainers and exercise bikes will be pretty quiet. It's the treadmill that makes the noise!
