Is this circuit training software any good?

Hello to everyone. I have recently released a piece of software which is designed to help people with their circuit training, I would be interested to hear what people have to say about the software and am offering a free copy to the first 50 people who would like to give me their opinion on the program.

The programs website is at http://www.blue-omega.com/fitkit.php . The software can be downloaded from there and serial numbers can be recieved by sending me a message on here or e-mailing me at:

andrew.starnes@ntlworld.com

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this

It looks interesting. I think it would help people who don't know effective excersizes get better, but I don't know if it can be that personalized.
Edit: I don't think it's worth $20 though, and it could at least show a demo of each excersize, and have vocal instructions.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. The software can be personalised but at the moment it's not that easy to do and I'm currently working on making that easier. Also I've started work on making little animations to go with each exercise. As for vocal instructions, this would be difficult to do unless a Steven Hawking robot style voice was used which I'm guessing would be annoying for most users after a short while. Anyway thanks again for your suggestions

It's a good idea... It's just a matter of... 1.) How many people have a computer by their workout area.... and 2.) How many people actually want to use their computer to work out....

One thing that came to mind was human nature :P Of course people are going to want a "good" workout so they might pick the 'Hard/Difficult' exercise right away and might hurt themselves... an idea is that you could have the program go through periodization. Because I'm guessing that your 'audience' is inexperienced people. (correct me if i'm wrong)

For the people that don't want to use your computer, you could also design a clock that you can sell that does the interval timing. And then you can just have the people print off their workout. So the program can be used either way.

Anyways... those are things that first came to mind...

I do not see this as being marketable information. This information is available in a million books in a million libraries. Being on the computer you should add the funtions that you can't get from books such as moving images, color coded "this is what you are working" graphs or links to products and information. What you have here is already available on every bookcase in every household in America in some form or another. If it is not distinguished it will fade into the backround.

Well, you could just use an actual person to show the exersizes, and make it look professional. Then you can dub your or someone elses voice over and explain whats happening, how long they should do what and why.

You also have to think of your consumers, who ever your looking to sell this to, must have the resources and knoledge to use this. I looked at your circuit training program, and it all seems kind of basic and easy to understand, But it looked almost to simple, how much credibility will it give you?

Personaly I would rethink this if I were you, the people you're targeting are the type of people who probably don't know how to work a computer. Besides the competitive market of health and weight loss is so great that I think you would find it very hard to market your idea weather it works or not.

You simply have to find a way to get your ideas out there better, if you were to get trained and certified as a professional trainer, you could market your idea much easier. But in reality if health is your thing, then I would say you need to teach it. But that is far less comfortable than waiting for people to buy your product.

Wow, thanks for all the tips and advice everyone has given me. I originally wrote the program for myself. I started university last year and found that I didnt have time to do my sprint training 3 times a week like I did before so wrote this program to help motivate me to finish my training sessions. Then when my friends also found it useful and all wanted copies so I decided to have a go at selling it. I agree with the point that not too many normal people have computers near their workout area so I've begun working on a version for Pocket PC's. I've begun making the animations to show how the exercises should be done but also my girlfriend is a model so will probably have a real photo's of somebody doing the exercises if she ever finds the time to help me with it.

I hopefully will be becoming a certified sprint coach in the not too distant future for my sprint group, hopefully this might add some credibility, until then and until I've made some improvements to the software. I'm thinking of giving it away as freeware.

Thanks again to everyone for their help and time in helping me out with this, If anyone else has any more suggestions then I would be delighted to hear them

Edit:

Also thanks for the idea about the printable logs, I've added that feature in the version I use for my training and found it very helpful already
