'clicking' when bending knee
I as well have this "the click and the slight numb pain" i originally got this from football
Though i do not notice the pain or the click when squatting with weight because I'm to focused on keeping proper form and what not.
I researched and found out what caused it and what exactly it is quite some time back however i did not retain the information
It does not affect me in the least in every day life or lifting for that matter HOWEVER
IF i sit Indian style then try to get out of it to quickly or exert to much force downward i can actually "Lock" my left knee in place and then its a slow process of "un locking" it, so i just cant sit Indian style without being careful.
Yeah I understand what you mean,no idea what causes it/how to treat it?I only get it when I'm doing a fluid motion.
Watch yourself when doing squats. Make sure that your knee does not open more than 90 degrees (your thigh is parallel with the floor). Don't wait for the pain, get it checked out. If it locks up when going up or down stairs, it could be a tear of one of your meniscus (the pads that cushion your femur and tibia). If there is a tear, then you could be talking about surgery.
Go get it checked out, better safe than sorry.
Yeah Todd had some good advice. If you're ever questioning whether or not you should see a doctor, you probably should.
It's a lot easier to deal with spending a little extra cash when you really were fine than not doing anything about it and risking serious injury.
It's nothing much, don't worry. You know when you crack your knuckles? Would it have detrimental effects? No, and it's perfectly ok to have those cracking sounds. I have them too, if it doesn't hurt it usually is fine. Hope that helps.
I kinda get that too. When I bend down, and stand back up, my left knee snaps. Over the past couple yrs, I've also developed something where when I bike or row on the erg machine, as I bend and straighten the leg, I get a pain above my knee, just where the thigh is, that feels like one bone or plate is sliding over the other, its fun
I had knee arthoscopic surgery last Monday to remove a knee cyst, and they did a scope and couldn't find any meniscus tear, so I don't know what my trouble is....old age I guess
I also have a dull sensation, which I started having in the past month or two, due to poor squatting form.
Thats a pretty poor example. Totally different joint, and the clicking of the knee is through normal range, not hyperextending it like you would to crack your knuckles.

Could be a medial plica, look it up. I have one, my knees fine now though. Could also be repetetive strain injury, rest it for a month and see what happens.
i had similar sort of injury, clicking, dull pain, this was caused by cartilage damage, i dont know if its the same injury, my knee crunches more than clicks but it might be worth going to a doctor and checking it out, theres no point letting it deteriorate.
