| | | My left lower back hurts My left lower back hurts, it actually started a couple of days back, but it gotten worse after my workout yesterday when I lifted about 198lbs RDL, when I got home, the pain was excruciating but surprisingly it comes on and off, probably is it time for me to get a belt or whatsoever?

| | | Definately avoid lifts for the time being that involve the lower back, but I guess that's obvious.
I too, love the RDL's, and I have traditionally had lower back problems, but they went away eventually due to a priority on back conditioning and strength. Unless your problem is something other than a "simple" lifting injury (I say that knowing full well back injuries can be misleading), once you are healed, remember to stretch until you think it's crazy to stretch any more, then stretch a little more.
Proper technique can be difficult to realize, and your worst enemy on the deadlifts. Make sure the back is straight. Don't look at the mirror or the floor. Look up. Also keep in mind that RDL's and standard deadlifts are different enough, and the RDL's and stiff leg deadlifts generally don't let you lift quite as much.
I believe there are some links to some great technique videos in one of the lifting stickies. T-nation I think is the source.
Good luck getting through the injury! |

| | | Thanks for the advice, during workout I dont feel the pain, a few hours after training the pain comes throughout the lower back. My back would be slanting 90 degrees during the end of each rep of the RDL, knees 45 degrees. I did some cardio today, and after cardio, the pain started to come back and it was up to my lower hip. I think I need to see the doctor. |

| | | The best thing to do would be to rest until the pain goes and then the next time you lift get someone to take a lclose ook at your form when you lift.
I've found the just going through the motions of squats and deads without any weight has helped me re-enforce correct technique in my mind so when I come to lift properly it's like second nature |

As much as it may kill you to do so, take real time off from all working out to give your body the time it needs to repair any damage. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
