HIIT w/ Boxing?

Hey all, im new to the forums, and to HIIT training itself. Im looking for a workout routine to help me lose body fat. I stumbled upon interval training in my research and gave it serious thought, and im ready to try it out. I was thinking of starting out with 3 days a week, mixing boxing in with it on a rotating schedule until im acclimated... So i was thinking Mon - HIIT, Wed - Boxing, Fri - HIIT, then the next week do boxing twice and the interval training once. Then eventually work up to a 4-5 day rotating schedule. I want to keep boxing incorporated as much as possible. Any tips, suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HIIT is a method meant to burn fat and preserve muscle. HIIT training should be anywhere from 5-20 minutes. After 20 min. your tank should be empty so to speak. You'll find that with HIIT you will sweat longer after the workout is done. Variations to prevent boredom could be HIIT on a spin bike (increase tension or sprint), treadmill (I find you gotta really push though), stair climbing and my personal favorite jump rope. The nice thing about jump rope and running is these methods can be done outside. Who doesn't like that? HIIT training should almost feel (or actually should feel) uncomfortable during the intense part of the workout. Make sure you "go all out" during the intensity part of the workout and you'll burn a ton of calories yet preserve the muscle we all work so hard for. Good luck!

Personally, HIIT is best for running. I find HIIT hard exercising on a bike. My body aches whenever I go back to exercise-biking.

HIIT will keep you sweating long after you've showered and burn more body fat throughout the day.
