1hr & 20min spinning, 1 hour in the pool.....cal-burn; 1,700

breakfast; an apple & a 120-cal fiber bar.

Lunch, went to Gyu-Kaku (Japanese/Korean fusion)....seaweed salad, spinach salad, cucumber salad, assorted weird vegetable-based salads. About 4 ounces chicken, 8 pieces of assorted sushi. Lots of bulk, no exact idea of calories, but based on carbs I'd have to figure about 800 at most. Snacked on trail mix 2 hours later, just a few handfuls. Dinner was some salmon patties, 2 spinakapita's (sp?) and some juice...probably another 800. This is why it's hard to figure things, it's just random & sporatic consumption....but always good choices and moderate portions.

Highlight of the day:

In spin-class some newbie-gal asked me about which bikes had straps so she could use her tennis-shoes. The bike next to mine did, so I took her under my wing and got her all set-up. OH MY GOD she was sooooo beautiful & stunning, she looked like Shaniya Twain (sp?) and incredibly friendly. She was so hot I almost couldn't look at her. Name was Shay. She couldn't peddle out of the saddle and after 30 minutes she was just totally exhausted and left. I hope I don't see her again; that's the kind of stuff that can ruin a man & marriage! Oh lord she was fine!!!!

what the heck is a spinning class anyway? I looked it up a bit online and it just seems like aerobic biking? Stationary biking..

How old was this chick btw? Better stay away from her man! 1 hour of pleasure (probably about 3 minutes in your case ), could totally ruin your life!

See.....there's your mistake; to presume men "think" in the first place.

I'd like to think I've developed something of a reputation for being a man-whore & neanderthal....it helps when I'm working my humor in my writing.

Bottom-line: I could never cheat on my wife...not because I couldn't get away with it, but because I could never live with the guilt. Period. Doesn't mean I can't talk up a storm on draw you guys to read my stuff.

FWIW, my wife recently came by the gym as I was leaving spin & headed for the pool. I introduced her to the spin instructors, a bunch of friends I've made in the class and literally a dozen senior-citizen gals that take the pool-exercise course next to my lap-lanes in the pool. I'm pretty much friendly with EVERYONE, young/old or male/female...doesn't matter, it's just nice to be at a gym where you feel like it's a hang-out or club...makes me feel like I'm supposed to show-up or else I'm blowing them off. Oddly enough, the woman are more approachable & friendly then the guys, woman will generally chat with anyone, whereas some of the guys are like deer in the headlights....BUT once you get to know them, they act like they're your brother or best friend. It's a strange social thing in the gym: total stranger or best-friend....not much in-between.

In reality, I do plan to participate in a triathlon and I'm training in that direction....but (and you'll hate me for saying this) I know I'm not ever going to be truly competitive on a real level. Maybe it's the size of my lungs, heart or general endurance/ability.....I just don't have it in me physiologically to contend with some of the people I've met who do compete. I'm using it for a goal and to a lesser extent looking good & getting fit is also part of my incentive: the fact that a "hottie" would even give me the time of day....yeah, I'll work with that for inspiration!!!

Thing is...(and FF has hit on this before)....our here in SoCal things are whacked far in favor of the woman. There are FAR less woman then there are men; at any bar, nightclub, dance places, dating agency, social gatherings...the men far outweigh the woman. To sum it up...if woman are rated on a scale of 1-10, then each woman in SoCal automatically gets to walk around with a presumtious +6 added to their score. Ya know what...this is so far of journal-worthy that it's time to stop. But let me add this: I always wear my wedding ring and it's a white-gold band with 7 small diamonds across the front: like a beacon screaming-out into the night it very well proclaims my marital status and instantly relegates me into the category of "unavailable"...and anyone who gets to know me generally hears me make some reference to my wife or kids in a short matter of time. I'm not a player or even much of a flirt...but I do like holding myself to aspire to wanting to look good enough for woman to classify some part of me as eye-candy. It's a bit delusional....but aren't most things in life?

FEELING LEAN TODAY....spun & swam yesterday and kept the overall calories light. Signing-off now...doing the home-gym and probably an hour on the elliptical. I'm considering adding a treadmill to the home gym but I hear these things tend to breakdown a LOT?

that was a good post pardna! really was....

I haven't had a wedding ring on in a long time...I'm not available, and it radiates within my ora! ahahhahaahha

I always sit in the front of a spin class- out of respect for the girlies that don't want me looking up their tail end. and besides that, I don't have to get to class early cuz the bikes in front are last to go... you know why? cu the chicks don't want to be voyeur material.

It is my goal to leave the biggest puddles of sweat, blow my nose into my shirt at least a coupel of times, huf and puff, and harrass at least one person with - "come on now give it some- quit acting like a girl!" I will say tghat to Etsuardo (5 time ironman). Or I will offer the powergel tubey thing to the person next to me after I sucked the gel out, "want some" hahahahah

Then I walk out and take off to run home. I have had a few people stop along side and aske me if I wanted a ride, but I say, "no thanks- Cya"

why did I tell you all that? sheeeyaht I don't know, just chatting with ya a bit.

you know, I am having an issue with these dimples in my butt cheecks... I almost feel like.... jhahahahaha yer a goof.... but I am glad you are here.

peace, breath, ohm

edit:
oh yeah p.s. I started to post to tell you my other post was sarcastic you dummy... hahahahaha XOXOXOXO

From what I hear....it's also the appalling lack of personal hygiene that helps repel 'em too!

Oh dude...that is SO wrong. You sit up front cause you dig chicks checkin' out your butt AND any chick sitting up front is there because she wants people checkin' her out. Trust me; only the firmest asses run the front row (or in your case the biggest JackAss).

Butt (excuse the pun) this is a very interesting topic for discussion!!! Our spin-room has 4 tiers, so does the spin-room at the other gym I go to...I suppose it's a typical format. If there's one thing that is consistent, the newbie's & fatties are always in the very back row. That's where I started, but I've since immediately moved-up to the 3rd row and occassionally will pull up into the 2nd row when class is light. What keeps me from moving up? 2 things...1) I still think I need to drop some weight so I'm not running the "wide-load" sign on my butt. 2) I'm a bit self-conscious of my small balding-spot. But make no mistake; the placement in the class is entirely relative to how confident people are about their bodies! The fit people are up-front while the lesser or more shy are towadrs the back. I'd like to say "I don't care what others think"...but the only thing I can honestly say is "that I do". At least they dim the lights and run with red, blue or a combination of both colors.....but when the class ends and the white flourescents come on: everyone is a bit uncomfortable and it's just weird.

Good man!

I have to put 2 towels under my bike or else a small lake develops. One time I forgot to put towels down and after class I turned to the gal next to me and said "I think I need to go to the hospital"....she looked at me concerned, I then jestered to the large puddle and said "I think my water broke!"....scored a good hard laugh off that. Then in my best Homer Simpson voice I said "It's as impressive as it is disgusting"...chuckles continued. Btw; she was hot.

So FF...how many times have you reached over and cranked someone's knob up a few turns??? I bet your en evil bastard like that, eh????

Dude.....it's all good. I get your humor through & through. FWIW & to explain things, I run my business from home. I take calls, answer questions and pretty much explain things to the point where my customers (homeowners looking to get their attic or walls insulated) just schedule the work to be done. While I listen to them on the phone or sometimes when I'm talking...I'll be online & goofing around. I pretty much use this forum as a distration & diversion...plus, I enjoy typing.

Truth of the matter is...most the reason I type is because it gives me a chance to reflect, contemplate and evaluate the things I'm writing about....it's as much for me as it is for anyone else who reads it. It's also like a puzzle, I enjoy trying to relate my thoughts in a concise manner sprinkled with some humor.

ANYWAYS....did the full-body workout for about 1hr & 20 minutes and then the elliptical for 40 minutes on interval settings...I did the tougher hills on full-incline & full-resistance: me so moist! Followed it up with some protein shake and some salmon patties (taste-tit-tee).

On the good-news front: the center of my abs are definitely parting...when I run my fingers across my chest from left to right, I can clealry feel a nice depression as I pass over the center. That doesn't happen when you're gaining fat! My overall waist also looks a bit leaner too. The only problem is I have a common-cold and all this working-out is not helping....it's making it worse...yet I'm too dumb to stop & rest. Brillaint.

I'm an instructor and I notice people will walk into my classroom and fill up the back rows first, before moving toward the front. Because my classes are long (9+ hours), I always ask them to move forward so I don't blow out my lungs and diaphragm by the end of the day. So, when I attend a class, such as a spinning class I now go right for the front, but I started in the middle rows until I felt confident that I could hang with the others. And I agree that the rookies and out-of-shapers fill up the back row.

I would smack the living dogsh!t out of any guy that did that to me! But, if a hottie reached over and cranked my knob, I'd be okay with that

Keep up the good work!

Oh for sure, generally you have to pay good money to get your knob cranked on.

I owe ya one, that was a sweet set-up!

We haven't heard from FF yet, but I'm willing to bet just about anything he's messed with other people's bikes while their on it....he's probably got a few good stories!

Back n' FAT....

Okay, my nutritionist and several others suggested I take a week off, eat a bit more food and give my body a rest. So I did. Last weekend was Yosemite Nat'l Park and this weekend+ was Lego-Land, DisneyLand and a few other things.

I did not eat fried foods, I did not eat terrible food....but I did eat some good quantity, maybe 4,500 to 5,000 calories per day! I had some pizza, chocolate and all sorts of things. My "binge" was a mere fraction as compared to my old eating habits, but trust me.....it falls solidly into the category of NOT GOOD. I basically made okay choices and then played garbage disposal with all 3 kids left-over's (can't waste food!!!). I'm feeling sluggish, heavy and so off the wagon.

As far as exercise....just a bunch of walking, but I've been off the bike, out of the pool and away from the weights for some time now.

TIME TO HIT IT AGAIN.....

Side-note: I've now talked to FIVE people who have all strongly expressed to me how they were at my same plateau until they actually ate MORE calories and then their body started losing weight. Eating MORE to lose weight: voodoo dietetics???? I dunno....

Since every day is different in terms of exercise & what I eat, I think I need to focus on a 20% deficit and really watch what I eat. I feel rather lost, disillusioned and frustrated.....but I have no choice but to continue: more exercise, careful & nutritious eating, let's see what happens!
