| | | Daniel's trip to Hell and back Hey everyone, my name is Daniel and i'm currently a senior in college. After thinking a lot about what i wanted to do with my life after college i decided that i wanted to be apart of usa's special forces. I'm a college athlete and am already in pretty good shape. I run very well, lift decently and have a very low percent body fat. However, as some of you may know to get accepted and get through the special forces training you need to be in tip top shape.
I'm starting this journal to try and stay motivated and to get feedback from those of you out there with certain ideas about my training schedule. I don't have much problem getting my workouts done, in fact a bigger problem for me is working out too hard. People constantly remind me that if i get injured i won't be able to work out at all let alone compete this year.
Anyways, i'll begin my journal tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy, Daniel

| | | Welcome! There is a guy at my YMCA who is about to enlist in the Navy and enter the SEALs. He holds a kickboard over his head and, wearing flippers, kicks in place (i.e., treading water without the use of hands) for over an hour. That is downright nasty!
I'll be interested in reading about your masochistic training program! |

| | | Well, more about myself... I'm a senior at the university of alabama and i play tennis on scholarship for them. I've been playing tennis for about 16 years and basically my life has centered around that. I've competed at many college tournaments including the NCAA finals each year. I've also played in a few pro tournaments during the summer months.
I'm looking forward to graduating college so that i can totally commit myself to my fitness goals instead of worrying about tests and classes everyday.
I want to join the military (and eventually special forces) because i feel like i have a duty to protect this country like many people have done for us in the past. I think that i have the mental and physical ability to be in the special forces.
My workout today:
morning:
35 minute swim
afternoon:
2 hrs 30 minute tennis practice
evening:
30 minute airdyne bike
6x30 push ups
6x20 sit ups
6x50 flutter kicks (2 count)
5x4 pull ups

| | | My workout today:
morning:
Full body circuit lift-1.5 hours
afternoon:
Tennis-1.5 hours
6x25 situps
6x30 pushups
6x50 flutter kicks (2 count)
4x4 and 1x7 pullups
Was wondering if anyone had any opinion about doing the same 4 lifts (situps, pullups, pushups, flutter kicks) every day. Those are really the 4 things i need to be able to maximize, but what might be the best way to work out those muscles. For the past 3 months i've been doing that exact same circuit everyday with the exception of making progress on reps.

| | | I would mix up the workouts so your muscles don't adjust - this is the premise behind "muscle confusion" and P90X and the reason it is so successful.
Oh yeah, congratulations on getting a tennis scholarship. |

| | Do you know exactly who you want to serve under? They each have very different training, and you can start preparing for it.
It's been brought to my attention that many military folks see a huge success with following Crossfit. Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness |

| | | Leiyun, I really don't know which way i wanna go. It's my understanding that the seals are the best special forces group so naturally i'm most attracted to them. However, while i'm a very good runner, i'm not a very good swimmer. I like the idea of combat controllers as well. From what i've read, rangers seem like the 3rd rank of special forces. I don't mean to offend anyone, thats just sort of what i've read. I'm going to be going to an airforce base in a few months to check out the special forces guys. Hopefully i'll have a better idea then.
