| | | Typhon & TonyM: No Rules! Typhons Info
I thought I should get this thread underway in Tony’s absence (He’s visiting the in-laws in Russia).
The basic idea of our journal is that we’re going to be doing some pretty hardcore strength training but outside of the gym. Tony should be back on the 1st August so this thread won’t really get rocking until then which is good for me as I have a chest infection right now and my ability for training at any decent volume is greatly reduced
I’ll start with a little profile of myself:
Name: Typhon
Age: 27
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 227lbs
Bodyfat: Who gives a f***
Objective: Get stronger
For my training I’m mainly going to be using sandbags. I’ll buy about 200kg of sandbag from the hardware store and a rucksack and kit bag from the army surplus store this weekend. With that I can do most core lifts like Squats (many variations), OH pressing, step ups, snatches, high pulls etc… and I’ll be adding in other stuff like iso holds as well and maybe some cardio and pull ups at the local park in the evening.
Oh, and I have to get a crate to do box squats on and try to pinch a keg from the local pub too
I imagine Tony will start showing off with his sled and tyres but I have very limited space to work in so am doing my best at this.
There should be lots of pics and even videos in this thread so watch this space Tonys Info

Diet Plan: I read the TNT Diet Book while on my vacation in Russia. This is basically a controlled carb approach. Ive stuck to it about 90% since Saturday. Only thing I had were a few cookies my wife made, and a small ice cream Sunday. Other then that I have been eating meat and vegetables, yum. I made some taco salad that I was eating this week. Tried out Bubba burgers also, pretty tasty.
Workout Plan: No Rules! I have sandbags, slam balls, punching bag, etc. The fun equipment.
Heres a few pics from Sunday after my workout. I also shot a short video with a sandbag circuit, so once I find out how to edit it I will get it up. |

| | | The weight gain has taken a back seat recently, I'm maintaining at around 227-228 but I'm not training the full 10 times a week due to either being kept up by the baby or with the legal crap I'm going through with my old company trying to sue me (had to miss both sessions today to deal with that).
The good thing about the sandbag stuff is that it's easier to fit in that my usual before work and lunch sessions
Once it's settled down a bit I'll see if I can get to about 231lbs by the end of August |

But I mean, wouldn't it be easier to just train hard and heavy 4-5x per week and eat a little less so you don't have to eat past the point of comfort? (I mean, obviously you know your body the best, but I'm just curious) |

People just take things to extremes. Of course if you're working out for 5 hours a day on 1000 calories and getting no sleep you're going to do damage. The answer isn't working out 1 hour a week and sleeping 12 hours to avoid "over training" though! |
