| | | best knife defence: Turn around and run like hell, no point fighting someone with a knife if you dont ABSOLUTLEY have to, nomatter how good you are it doesnt take much for a person to manage to slash you with a knife.
other than that.. i guess you should take some kind of martial art, most of them have knife defence. |

| | | well i m not exactly into knife fighting but videos ive seen of knife fighting dont just appeal to me.
they are either to difficult to execute in a real environment or they are too complicated in their structure to be able to recall in a fight
id go for something thats simple, easy to execute and has a simplified structure for every offence and defence
there are many good schools that seem to fit the above criteria and are probably effective (in my opinion) |

| | | oh ok jw because a week ago i turned 18 and got myself a diablo knife and i remembered my sensai ran a drill with me when i was 2 mounths into tenchi kenpo. I am also aware of the fact that most cases the knife is also turned on you and used against you. |

| | | Yeah, but there is a martial art specifically geared towards knife fighting. Very impractical stuff. What are the odds that you have a knife, he has a knife, and you both know how and agree to knife fight? |

| | though I'm still learning empty handed combat i still feel as though learning how to properly handle a knife and how to defend against knife attacks would be very useful indeed. Ive read a few issues of blackbelt magazine that talk about knife attacks and defending against a knife well I live in Boston and though it may seem like yuppies paradise but there are alot of bad parts to it but isnt every major city like that. |

| | | best defense against a knife attack?
a skeleton laced with adamtanium, with 3 razor sharp claws. Couple that with super strength, animal keen senses and a healing factor, you'll be fine. |

He was interested in knife fighting...if you want to learn knife fighting, then learn from the best. Aside from that, the arts of Silat, Escrima, and Arnis are more than just bladed/stick arts, they have a lot of empty hand stuff. But hey, if ya carry a pocket knife around, it can be handy to know how to use it or at the least if you have practiced against knives, if someone pulls out one, you at least have a greater advantage than never have had practiced against knives at all. It has a lot to do with the psychological advantage someone has when pulling out a blade...you take that away from them...then you take the blade away from them.
I can only relate from personal experience of having had a blade pulled out on me once but learning what I have learned came into great use at this moment.
Of course I think most of us will go through our entire lives and have very few, if any, confrontations. |
