| | | 8% body fat ??? something is wrong Hey all.... Here at my school they to the % body fat for free .... so i went and did it ....
but I am sure something is wonrg with the reading ...
it said I only have 8% which I find it hard to believe since I can barely see my abs (and I do work them every day)
it was measured by me standing on a balance with out my socks thats it ...
no clips or anything
here what the paper says
age 19
height 6ft 0in
weight 143.21lb
bmi 19.4
fat% 7.8%
BMR 7317kJ
impedance 519 Omega
Fat Mass 11.2lb
FFM 132.0lb
TBW 96.61
now what is FFM, and TBW ???
here follows a picture !!
i am the one with out the shirt
sooo could the readings be wrong ???
thanks !
sorry about the picture... but thats the only one I have !!

| | | Yes! Sounds like they used an impedance measurement to "estimate" body fat. Those are notoriously inaccurate. They depend a lot on skin impedance, hydration... and a lot of other variables. I assume FFM is what we normally call lean body mass (LBM):
LBM+FAT=Body Weight
From your photos, I would guess your body fat in the 12-15% range, but it is a little hard to guess given that you are so slim (that is you don't have a lot of muscle mass).
BTW, it is not good to work your abs every day! They are muscles like all other muscles need at least 48 hours of rest between high intensity exercise sessions. |

| | | agree'd, bio-impedience is a poor testing method.
You look pretty lean, but not a lot of muscle. without a fair amount of muscle on the whole body, including abs, they won't show through without a really really low bodyfat.
and like dswithers states, daily ab work is a no-no. 3 times a week should be MORE than enough ab work. |

| | | I would say that you are about 8%...but you don't have much lean body mass (thats why you can't see any abs!).
Don';t worry, alot of people would like to have your "problem". |

is it still not good to do this everyday ???

I'd recommend you start bulking up if you want to see more definition. |

| | i agree that you look like if you're concerned about abs you'd likely have to put some effort into stucturing and stickling to a higher carb/protein intake, which no doubt would help you in other areas aswell, but where exactly the ppl who said daily abs aren't advisable are getting your information??
... if your abs building is any way related to a sport pursuit with an sort of eduro muscular demand, considering it also stabilises your entire body and balance through these activities, it might be a good idea to consider it nontheless. functional is faar better than show!! ..It may be that you're not overly intersted in that ( as in muscles that work to their best performance capacity aswEll as look good) but it was wrong of them to say.

any way is that ab machine I posted before any good or is useless ?? | If your looking to bulk, dont worry about abs right now. Focus on large muscle groups. The more important excercises being squats, deadlifts and the benchpress. Those ab machines are pretty useless. Bulk right now (focusing on every muscle group), then cut and you will see abs. |

The second step is to EAT,
The final step is to workout. |
