| | | First off congrats on the weight loss man. There is nobody that can look at a couple pics and tell your body fat.
I would not call you obese at all, actually looks like you got a decent foundation if you really wanted to mold your body. Sayin that cuz you have a similar build to mine when I started.
Whats your height and weight ? And if I had to guess for any reason, id say the wii is pretty close. |

Id guess your between 25-30%. Get a good routine and diet together and rip it up dude. |

Like i said, some standards consider anybody a little overweight obese so dont sweat it. |

Like i said, some standards consider anybody a little overweight obese so dont sweat it. | well i play soccer. so everyday we run 150 yard sprints. about 20 of them. then at home i run anywhere from 2 miles to sometimes 5 miles. for breakfast i eat just a banana and i just make sure i burn more calories than what i take in. also i lift weights every now and then. i gained some muscle but it's mostly in my legs. upper body is very weak. but since im always running my legs are pretty good. but we stopped working out since season is almost here. |

| | | The Wii fit uses BMI as an indicator of obesity. BMI is good for analyzing populations, but not individuals. I am 5'10 and 190 lbs with a bodyfat of 10%. Based on the BMI calculators, I am overweight. I find it hard that some one with a bodyfat of 10% is overweight. In order to get to a proper weight for BMI, I would have to drop about 15-20 lbs of lean body weight.
Based on your photos, you could use some lean mass and some fat loss. Don't get hung up on the BMI measurements. |

| | | Yeah, I’m 6’2” and weigh in around 280lbs (got pics in my journal). Charts say I’m obese. Hell, 6’2” and 280s does sound obese but I don’t look it..least I don’t think I do.
great job on the 30lb loss... |

| | | How does the Wii Fit measure BF%?
By the numbers you've given it sounds like you'd be considered borderline obese by standard health charts but as people have already pointed out it's a very flawed way of judging someone's physical condition
Well done on losing the weight, for what it's worth the 27%bf measurements sounds fairly accurate from your pics but I wouldn't get too hung up on it, just eat well and train hard |

| | That index wants me to lose 104 lbs to drop me to 180lbs and a BMI of about 20 (it says I'm 36.6BMI). I could stand to lose 50lbs but not 100lbs
Sorry just so mad at being FAT |

No man over 6' should be below 200lbs (unless he's a BBer), you need a lot of muscle for lifting stuff and a bit of padding to keep the cold out |

| | | According to a Handout from my Gym instructors in school, Body Fat for Males
6-11% = Athletic
12-15%= Average
15-19% = Healthy
20-23% = High, but Optimal
24%+ = Obese Body Fat for Females
8-12%= Athletic
13-19%= Average
20-24%= Healthy
25-27%= High, But Optimal
28%+ = Obese
Currently, I'm sitting @ 178 pounds, and 18% Body Fat. We used a special scale to find out. If I were you, I'd go to your local gym, and ask if they have a scale like, that, or have the ability to do a skin fold test, and or a water displacement test. |

| | | BMI is a total joke. When I was in the Army I had to get tape tested because I was overweight at 6-2 and 198lbs. BMI doesnt take into consideration any muscle mass, I'd avoid it. Also I find it interesting about the fascination with body fat %. I guess people need a number to tell people. Look in the mirror if you don't like what you see change it until you do. |

| | | I agree that BMI is the most pointless measurement ever. I have no idea how that ever became the standard. As stated, someone can be 10% body fat and be labeled "overweight." Obese is defined as a BMI greater than 20% of what it should be I think, so it is again based on faulty logic. Focus on body fat and more importantly, the mirror. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
