I had to google the weight of an Olympic hammer and yes...they are both teh same weight (16lbs). I'll have to throw the 22 lb hammer in Tulsa on Sunday.

In the Games, there is always a cage around the thrower because it's not uncommon for hammers to go flying when the torque start goin'. Seeing a cage get smashed by a flying hammer is truly an awesome sight.
I'd love to have a go at hammer, I did jav and shot when i was in school and came 1st in an inter-schools comp.
Which was well funny cos I was the youngest and the smallest by a long way. I felt really smug for about 7 years.
