Smile One Month Progress

Here are some one month cutting progress pictures for ya, tell me what you think so far. I'm planning on cutting down another 6-7lbs, then maintaining that for the summer...after which, I'll start my bulk.

These are after losing 6lbs of overall weight, while drinking more water and starting creatine. I ate ~2400 calories a day, which is supposedly ~600 under my maintenance. In addition to the deficit, I have a weight lifting program that involves four days a week. I did no cardio thus far, other than things such as pickup basketball games.

I think the back has gained some muscle as well.. but why are you cutting? You're pretty thin as it is, you should bulk and get some muscles

Pretty much because I'd like to have abs for once

Figure with summer coming up, as good a time as any... I'll be bulking after summer, don't worry :P

How much do you weigh brotha? I wouldn't try to lose any more fat at this point, you are really lean and I think you'd probably lose some hard earned muscle if you tried to cut at the level of leaness you are at right now.

I recommend a very slow steady bulk so that you don't gain a lot of fat over the summer, but I doubt you'll listen to me

You'll live and learn like I did.. haha.

I'm 6'2", 186 right now... I'd like to lose about 6 more pounds, I'll reevaluate at that point. I'm lifting hard, getting plenty of protein, and taking creatine, all of which I've read are good to negate muscle loss while dieting, so hopefully I will minimize any of that.

You're right that I don't want to bulk over the summer, going from being a fat kid to this, even just the past month's transformation is noticeable... I want to see how I'd look without the layer of fat that's obscuring my abs right now. I realize the mindset is to bulk, however, I'd much rather be defined and lean for the summer than bulky again.

Alaskan winters are long enough to bulk for quite some time

Really appreciate the kind words! I noticed in one of the front pictures the top of my abs are starting to show through, just makes me want to keep going

Good progress.

What is your weight lifting routine? Sets, reps, and exercises?

Have you thought about beginning a training/dieting log in the journal section of the forum?

What do you consume for your Pre and Post workout meals?

Best wishes,

Chillen

Here is my lifting routine (done in the form ABxABxx, e.g. Upper on Monday and Thursday, Lower on Tuesday and Friday):

UPPER:

* Bench Press
* Seated Row
* Pec-Fly
* Chin-ups & Pulldowns
* Military Press
* Lateral Raise
* Triceps Extension
* Curl
* Shrug

LOWER:

* Squat
* Deadlift
* Lunges
* Seated Leg Curl
* Calf Raise
* Decline Sit-Up
* Hanging Leg/Hip Raise
* Side Bend

I've been doing 3 sets of 8 reps each, with enough weight to fail about the 8th rep. My weights have been stagnant for the most part, with some going up slightly. I'm excited to start making progress in that department once I'm done dieting

I don't have the patience to make a journal as of right now, maybe I will for bulking :P

Pre-workout has typically been a sandwich of some sort along with some fruit an hour or two before hand, and post-workout is a protein shake, followed by some carbs a bit later.

Thanks much. I'll probably be done cutting in another 4-6 weeks, upon which I might start a slow bulk if you guys convince me well enough :P
