First Time

Hello. My names is Charles and I am 28 years old, 5'8" tall and weigh 218lbs. This is the first time I have ever done any kind of dieting or exercising. The reason for this is I am tired of being over weight, tired of sweating while doing nothing and being out of breath from the smallest tasks. I am starting a new job next month that will require me to outdoors all year long, which does not bother me but I will be wearing heavy long sleeve shirts and pants in the hottest months. This means if I sweat like a pro doing simple tasks now, I can not even imagine what is going to happen then. I will not be joining a gym for a few months because of money so I will be doing all my exercises at home. I have a total gym that I received for free and will be using this (any pointers would be great).

My normal diet consists of either no breakfast or a bagel with cream cheese, I might have lunch I might not and when I do it is normally a ham sandwich or something along those lines. Dinner varies from pizza to fish to pasta. Then at night I normally munch on chips or something microwavable. I also normally eat two plates at dinner. I drink allot of soda and maybe 2 litre's of water a day.

I plan on changing my eating habits starting tomorrow and starting a workout routine as well.

Any information that anyone can give to me would be greatly appreciated.

I also had one more question. I like beer. I have heard it is not good for dieting. Is this something I need to look at when counting carbs? Do I need to cut it out all together (I hope not).

Thanks for any information that can be given.
Charles

Welcome and good luck! You can drink beer in moderation but realize it adds carbs and is a sedative that slows down your metabolism so it will hinder your weight loss goals.
