I am new! And have a question about overdoing it...

I have been searching the net to find solutions to my problem. I have been working out for a year and decided to start working out harder and pushing myself by joining Boot Camps, the 1st one I went to was great and I felt great for a day then the next day the pain was so bad it just hurt to 'be'. The next day it was mainly the feet and legs so I used a heating pad to try to relax the muscles. I really hurt myself, even took major pain meds I had left over from surgery to try to calm the pain. I am getting better by day 3 but I really didn't think I did as much as the rest of the group since I was new to this but I guess I totally did over-do it. So when can I work out again is my question? Walking has been to hard so the gym has been out of the question, it is depressing though since I did really good in my mind then sat on the couch for 3 days following.

During this boot camp, there was mainly running involved and push ups, jumping jacks, sit ups, etc.. I didn't do as much running since my stamina is TERRIBLE (I doubt it will get better, been trying for a year now), so I ran for almost 1/4 mile at a time and walked 1/4 mile at a time, this was for about 3.5 miles total. Next time I guess I should do just 1.5 miles, I just felt great at the time and felt like I could for for another 2 miles.

When is it safe to work out again when your legs are still in pain and how do you make your body heal faster besides rest and TONS of water??

Does it get better as you go or am I forever doomed to not be able to push myself more than just my normal gym routine. It felt so great at the time to run and do so much more than what I normally do, it felt like a "real" work out. I need to lose 50 pounds to get to my goal weight, I lost 45 already and thought this would help...

I am bummed.
