newb in need of advice...

hey guys. I'm an 18 year old high school student, with not to much time on my hands. I'm 6 feet 5 inches tall, and weigh about 212 lbs. I've been looking around this forum for a few days now and some of the progress I've seen people make in the gallery section inspired me to start trying to get more lean.

i guess my main goal would not be to lose weight but just lose some fat and maybe even gain some muscle, i don't count calories but i haven't gained any weight for a long time so i figured that i burn about as many calories as i take in.

im trying to get as much cardio like exercise as i can, but right now its still kinda cold up here in Vermont to go out running, so the way i get my cardio in is, i play DDR (dance dance revolution) for about an hour and a half to two hours a day. untill the calorie counter in the game gets up to about 700 kcal.

and all i have for weights is 2, 20lb dumbbells, i usually work out with two differant days (blue and white) on white days i try to work out the upper body with:

bicep curls = 4 sets with 10 reps
(i don't know the names of the rest of them)

a tricep exersice = 4 sets with 10 reps

where you lift the weights over your head,= 4 sets with 10 reps

and a forearm exersize also 4 sets with 10 reps

and then as many pushups as i am able to do usually around 10

on blue days i pretty much only do situps and an exercise for my upper legs

what do you guys think? or do you have any suggestions? i would love to hear from you

Welcome to the forum.

Your routine needs a lot of work.
I suggest reading the stickies in the weight training section of the forum,
and once you get more informed start asking questions.

Good luck on your goals!

Welcome to the forum.

How come you dont have much time? There are so many exercises you can do using dumbells, here is a spot that may help you ExRx (Exercise Prescription) on the Net or try looking in the video section of www.bodyweightculture.com

hey guys.i read through the weight training stickies, and the nutrition stickies, and now that i got into the college right near where i live i even have access to a gym, and don't really have to work as hard on homework, and that means more free time. now this is where i really need your help. i found my caloric intake for the day that keeps me going and how much i need to take in to lose weight. but i don't want to lose weight i want to lose fat, and maybe gain muscle. is that possible to do at the same time? or do i need to lose weight, and then build muscle?
