Alcohol

ok so this question is alot different from what we usually talk about on this site, but i just wanted to know if alcohol, aside from its damage to your body, can have this affect on people.

my question is : can alcohol make a person so that they dont realize what they're thinking and say random things that go against their morals or what they truly believe, or does it just make you spill the truth.

thanks for any input you can give, i just was curious about this.

Wikipedia says the following:
well-known side effect of alcohol is lowering inhibitions. Areas of the brain responsible for planning and motor learning are dulled. A related effect, caused by even low levels of alcohol, is the tendency for people to become more animated in speech and movement. This is due to increased metabolism in areas of the brain associated with movement, such as the nigrostriatal pathway. This causes reward systems in the brain to become more active, and combined with reduced understanding of the consequences of their behavior, can induce people to behave in an uncharacteristically loud and cheerful manner.

I've an alcoholic in my family,so it always seemed to me like it did both.Though that could've just been the way that person reacted to it.
