Almonds. Healthy snack or healthy to a point?

So I love almonds. I always watch my diet and i work out regularly but i love to snack on almonds, besides, they have 6 grams of protein per serving of 1/4 cup. This is where the problem comes in, i might eat 1/4 cup each time but i might go at them 3 or 4 times a day. My concern is the other nutritional information of almonds:

Per serving of 1/4 cup:
Calories - 170
Calories from fat - 130
Total Fat - 15g
Saturated Fat - 1g

Im sure its healthy to eat almonds in small quantities, but if i eat a cup a day and consume 680 calories and 4 grams of saturated fat, is this doing more harm than good? I dont eat junk food and i rarely cheat on my diet but i want to know whether almonds go on the junk food or the health food list.

As long as no one is eating my nuts (and I mean peanuts, okay?), its all good.........He, he

Almonds are great! Just like peanuts are great (and the more natural type of peanut butter........such as:

Smuckers......):

Just eat the F@CKERS! Insert smiley! As long as its SMUCKERS and makes your mouth PUCKER your fitness level will never be a SUCKER!

oh..I am better now....I think....he,he

Yes, eat nuts they are good for you. They contain mono and polyunsaturated fats that are good to have in the diet.

Be careful with them if you are on a restrictive diet as they are calorie dense. I guess our maker became nuts when he made the nut, oh well.

Walnuts are the KING....but they are all good!

Best wishes

Along this vein, are almonds and peanuts very different nutritionally? I eat all natural Almond Butter instead of Peanut Butter. Is it better, worse, or probably the same? I also have Cashew Butter which is yummy

Almond nutrition from the nut farm () (its the name of the site, be quiet!) :

Almonds from the Nutfarm are full of Nutrition for a Healthy diet

Calories in Almonds

Peanut nutrition:

The Peanut Institute - Peanut Nutrition Basics

Calories in Peanuts - The Calorie Counter

Hope this helps!

Best wishes

nuts are very calorie dense so you may just want to watch that.

I eat all types. Almonds and walnuts are the best. I have a bag of almonds at my desk that I snack on throughout the day but not more than about 1/2 cup per day.

I was wondering about nuts also as I've had a real craving for cashews lately. You wanna make healthy choices but there is a nagging thing constantly saying, "they are fattening".....all things in moderation is usually ok.

Chillen: why be self-fish with you nuts lol

Nuts are generally good for you, but are calorie dense, so you have to be careful if you are limiting calories to cut body fat.

I would share them with you, anytime.

Now, if we are speaking Natural Peanut Butter....better sharpen your debate skills......

Best wishes to you young lady......wish you the best.

Put a smile on your face and those around you by putting some nuts in your diet.
