Which calories are right?

I find that the calories on some packages differ from things I look up online. Frozen veggies, for example. Take the broccoli I eat. The serving size says 1 cup is 2g protein and 4g carbs. Do the math, that's clearly 24 calories. The package says 30 calories though. And if you look it up online, you get 40 calories with 4.4g protein and 7.5g carbs (I guess they're subtracting some calories for fiber).

Obviously, there's not a big difference either way. Just wondering if it's more accurate to go by the package or not. This goes for other foods also.

food facts have to be accurate or the FDA fines them.
but they are allowed to round down. .4g of trans fat becomes 0g, while 7.6g of protein becomes 8g.

So the package is closer than an online calculator?

I would def think the pack is most accurate as they research the actual product in the packet.
I have a pocket calorie book which i rarely need to use, as the packets have all the NI.
Having said that, on WW, most Veg is free - which is a relief as counting all veg, although probably more accurate, for me, gets too time consuming!

Yeah I guess I'll go with that then

The calories are off though. I just had some and it said 1g protein, 4g carbs (still broccoli we're talking about), and still says 30 calories. I don't know what's up with that.

I realize that it's not going to change anything if it's a serving of broccoli FF, but I still want to know what's right. There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, there are WAY to many people who blindly follow things and have no clue why they're doing what they're doing and/or how to change or fix anything.

So I just want to know for future reference, which should be the one to go by. Plus, there could definitely be times when it would matter. i.e. somebody eating at a caloric deficit of say 200-300 calories - they screw up by 50 calories 3 times a day and they have almost no deficit and they wonder why nothing is happening.
