Cottage Cheese

My cottage cheese has a lot of ingredients in it! I thought it was supposed to be healthy! What brand is a good fat free brand with high protein & without all this added stuff like modified food starch & guar gum..what is that stuff!!!!!!!

When you go shopping, look at the different brands.

What I buy here is probably not available in your area.

What are some added ingredients to avoid in cottage cheese? I noticed Friendship has less ingredients without modified food starch, but most others have preservatives & such.

You might look for an organic brand like Horizon if they sell it in your area.

Dont be scared, get the 4% fat version. I was comparing when I went to buy for the first time and the fat free had more calories than the fatty ones. Eat before bedtime for a great night time snack.

Yep, it can taste completey different depending on the brand. I like Horizon organic - I get the 2% reduced fat. As for making my own? hmmm, I don't think I could stomach that.

Damn, I used to love cottage cheese when I was a kid, and somewhere in growing up, I stopped eating it completely. My ma still loves it, and I take a bite every now and then, not a fan at all. It's too bad, I hear NOTHING but good things about it.
