Discouraged, opinions please.

I'm coming from a long way, I used to be pretty short and fat. Now i'm about 5'10, 17 years old, and 155lbs. I have a pretty solid workout that i'm content with, and i've decided to stop looking at my workout for problems i'm having. I'm intaking anywhere from 1500-2000 cals per day, right now i'm tyring to cut off that bit of excess fat i have for beach season (i want a nice, cut six-pack) but i feel that i'm doing something wrong. I know when cutting, i shouldn't expect too big of muscle growth, but i have not grown ANY! I've been measuring myself, biceps specifically, and I'm intaking about 140-170g protein per day. I drink a shake consisting of 40-50g protein post workout. My saturated fat intake is low, no more than 10g per day, usually around 5 or so. I don't usually count carbs, soley because everything I eat is usually for its protein content. I just want some opinions to what I should do if i continue to see no muscle gains (i AM losing fat, but very, very slowly) and if i've said anything i shouldn't be doing. Also, i know i'm supposed to get around 8 hours of sleep per night, but i actually average around 5 to 6.. how big of a contributor could that be? Thanks a lot
