8 glasses a day keeps the baddies at bay

Please read this on water intoxication:
Water intoxication - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basically, you may be at risk if you do or are any one of the following things:
  • You're a total nut case that drinks excessive amounts of water
  • You're an extreme athlete running a marathon (& drinking plain water instead of water containing electrolytes, aka Gatorade)
  • You have some kind of serious gastrointestinal problem from something like food borne illness
  • You are in a drinking water contest where you consume several gallons of water in a matter of minutes.
Otherwise, you have nothing to worry about. Drink away!!

exactly where did you read the bit about drinking water 45 mins after carbs?

sounds like some bogus info based on zero research. gotta be real careful about what you read & believe from the web. ANYONE can post anything they want and claim it as fact.

I agree with spud912

Water intoxication is practically impossible for the average person. It typically happens to people with obsessive/compulsive disorder or due to forcing themselves to drink (hazing, a contest etc.)

Remember the whole Terry Shiavo story? She was in her coma because she had obsessive/compulsive disorder and drank several gallons of tea every day.

There was a competition at my local radio station, to see who can drink the most water ... hahah dumb. But neway some poor mother, drank like a nutcase and ended up dieing in hopsital from water poisoning. What a sad way to die.

edit: lol this reminds me of a vodka skulling competition in russia where the winner died after skulling 2 liters of vodka.

Too much of ANYTHING is bad for you- no matter how good it is under "normal" circustances.

This is absolutely correct. Eating clean is fine and good, but if you eat more than your body needs, you are going to gain weight, and some of this may be unwanted weight gain. So eating clean is only one factor and not the only one.

I'm not 100% on this but I don't think the reason you feel ill is because of the water. I think it is because of the transition from the heat to normal room temperature. When your body is already warm because of the chin-ups and the heat outside then when you walk into a room that is normal room temp. Your body can't take the transition so fast.
Is this correct?

I drink a lot of water - somewhere close to 4 or 5 litres a day and not once have I died from it

Biggest downside is the number of times you need the toilet!! For this reason, I try not to drink too much after about 8pm - otherwise, I'd never get a decent night's sleep.
