Eating fish once a day everday good?

Hello everyone.

I thought of beginning to eat fish every day from now on. Because of it's high protein, and relatively cheap. Is this good to do? Or not suggested..?

It is good as long as it is not deep fried. The stuff that you get at buger king or skippers is not real fish. Perhaps it was fish a long time ago but after what they do to it- the "fish" patty will no longer constitude good food.

Keep in mind however that if you are just after the omega 3s you can buy cheap fish oil pills that work great. I myself have two cans of tuna each day and that makes counting my protein a whole lot easier.

No, I don't plan to eat at fast food. I plan to get my mommy to make them for me!

Thank you.

It depends what fish. Do not eat specifically preadatory fish like swordfish and shark, as well as bottom feeders like catfish; for they are high in contaminants (mercury being the most popular)...try to stick to fresh water fish that have not been farm raised like salmon or trout. Eating fish everday isn't a very good gamble in this day and age...try to keep it maybe a few times a month.

I have heard the mecury conspiracy theories and I have also heard that they are bunk. Every time I hear that it is bunk it seems to make a lot more sense. now the fish you mentioned I don't eat simply because they are so much more expensive than sardines, cod and tuna. And I have never had any problems with mercury

I don't think the government would have anything to gain by commiting false tests to stop you from eating Fish/Seafood.

The top link shows mercury contents of tested fish. They recommend you limit fish/seafood intake but if you're eating low risk seafood or you're in a general area that has lower contamination risk- I wouldn't worry about it.

As LeiYunFat said, lmit intake of large fish and predatory fish as they always have larger concentrations due to the fact that they live longer and consume other fish (with mercury content).

One important observation: Chunk light is lower in mercury than albicore. Its cheaper, and I don't think it tastes "better" anyway. Remeber- water, not oil.
