| | | I haven't tried that one, but do often sip on an energy drink. I work out at 4:30am so the quick caffeine helps get me fired up for lifting. Lately I've been drinking coffee, which seems to work very well. It's also much cheaper. When I have the energy drink I start drinking about 30minutes before training and continue for about 1/2 the session. I always have my own bottle of water too. I hate wasting time at the fountain. Never fails when I want a quick drink someone has to refill their 32oz bottle.
Anyway....
My favorite energy drink is ABB's Ripped Force. I have been known to throw down a Red Bull or Monster when needed. I respond very well to the caffeine. Watch out when I come down though. I crash fairly hard and start searching for my next fix or a place to sleep.

| | | water is better while you are exercising. if you consume an energy drink and then exercise, it may help, but during exercise, water is better...bear in mind also that energy drinks dehydrate you, so be sure to drink extra water.
energy drinks before a workout are good once in a while. you dont want to get into the habit so that you need one to workout...at that point it isnt enhancing performance, and you are just wasting a lot of money. |

| | If you're doing a short cardio session or HIIT, water is the way to go.
If you're doing a longer cardio session, or weight-lifting, you're better off with a sports drink. The idea is to keep your glucose level up, since that's what is actually giving you the fuel to move and exert your muscles. If you're huffin' and a puffin' away for any good length of time (1 hour +), your body may start breaking down proteins (read muscle tissue) for energy. |

| | | Most of you guy's seem to be from america but over in England, our football players (you know it as soccer) Drink Lucozade Sport, I find this drink keeps my energy up it is full of sugar and isn't very good for the teeth but if it is good enough for david beckham it is good enough for me.
We also have Powerjade, which i think is horrible |
