What do you mean detoxify your body? What is prompting you to thinking you have to detoxify your body in the first place? 3 day fasting is not healthy.

I believe your taxing and toxifying your body by not giving it food for three days. This in all honesty is ludacrous.

What are your goals? Are you training? (and if you are, you want to not eat for three days?!, this makes no sense)

Give more info, in any event, I dont think there is anyone going to tell you not eating 3 days is good.........One article and your mind is made up? I can assure you, you need to branch out your educational research, my friend.

Lets us know your current condition, wgt, height, age, etc, and what your goals are, and the REASON you believe you need to detox your your body.

NEVER go 3 days without food...........NEVER.

Want to detoxify your body? Drink more water. Like, a gallon or more a day. Don't fast, you'll kill your metabolism.

By kill you mean faster or slower?

Over a period of time, the body (in most persons) (I believe I am an exception to this rule, though), will adjust to the caloric content given, and tend to lower its needs to what is eaten. So it tends to slow the metabolism. This is th short, sweet and to the point version.

This slowing pales in comparison to the logic in fasting 3 days and detrimental health benefits.

Provide the link to this article, I would like to read this just to see the mind at work that would advise to fast 3 days.

I heard it is good to fast for like 10 hours once in awhile so that you can truely understand when you are hungry and when your just craving food. Anyone get what I mean?

I have "fasted" before for 5 days on watermelon.

Watermelon is a simple sugar that does not require digestion, it also contains some vitamins, etc and fibre which stops you from getting hungry.

The idea is that it gives your body a chance to excrete and/or process all the crap stored in your system - for the average person who lacks a decent fibrous diet this is an excellent way to clean out all the rotting stuff in thier intestines.

After the first 2 days I broke out in small pimples and had a small fever and was feeling a little ill - my friend who fasts twice a year told me this was normal and it was the body starting to process the wastes - this makes sense to me.

Also it is good to give your body a chance to work its kidneys and liver clean, as I am a drinker, often a heavy drinker I also liked this idea.

After the 'fast' I lost quiet a few kilo, my waistline came in dramatically and I felt lighter (obviously several kilo of waste was missing), I did not lose muscle and I got straight back into eating though my meals were a little smaller.

3-5 days once or twice a year is not going to hurt your training and it is not going to affect your metabolism.

I see what you mean although it being psychological.

When im at home with food easily accessible i tend to get hungeir more often and eat more. In contrast to times when im at uni for maybe 5 hours without food (having ate it all at lunch), theres the initial hunger that lasts for a bit than the remaining time you dont really feel hungry even though you would be if say you were at home with plenty of food.

Fasting is not eating anything Conan. And, I simply dont agree with you. Fasting for 3 days let alone 5 or more days, is STUPID and unhealthy. Cleansing the body, can be conducted properly through the correct food and nutrition, and giving the body nourishment in the right nutrient composite.

Watermelon is not a sugar. However, it contains sugars such as fructose. There is no such thing as a nutrient that does not require digestion. If it is not digested, the body cannot extract food energy from it.

Common myth. Food does not rot in the intestines, That is a fraud cooked up by the hydrotherapy quacks. It is possible for feces to become impacted in the colon, but that is a specific medical condition, not anything the average person has. The walls of the intestines are liens with mucus, so the mail moves quite smoothly.

It does not make sense to me. The body does not store toxins.

You did not lose several kilograms of waste material. You lost several kilograms of water, fat, and muscle. As little as a few ounces of impacted waste will cause agonizing pain and rectal bleeding. Are we to believe you merrily walked around with several kilograms of crap impacted in your intestines?

Toxins are not stored in the body. You already have a wonderful "detox" system consisting of the renal system, digestive tract, and liver.
