| | | High Protein / Low Carb quick meals I'll be honest, I hate cooking and preparing meals. I was wondering if there were any high protein / low carb meals I could find at my grocery store that I could just throw in my microwave oven and heatup. Something like a tv dinner but with a lot less calories. From what I've seen in the past most "tv dinners" are considered unhealthly, just wondering if any of them are good or should I just avoid them and stick to preparing / cooking meals which I hate. |

| | | Nope.
boxed, pre-processed meals are terrible for you. even healthy choice and lean cuisine suck pretty bad (sodium, high carb, processed meat and carbs, hydrogenated fats,....and they are expensive to eat 5-7 times a day)
your best bet is to cook a lot of meals, two times a week. then use cheap Gladware/tupperware/etc to store it, make it portable, and easily microwaveable.
steamed rice is good for 5 days. cook a pound of chicken breasts at once, then cut into individual portions, along with rice, and some veggies. |

| | | Lol Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine were the ones I was looking at too, but when I looked at the nutrition label and noticed the amount of carbs I figure its a lost cause. Should I bother with rice, isn't it high in carbs and should I go brown or white? |

| | | Rice is essentially a carb, so it is not a good option at all if you are looking for something low carb. However, if you do want some carbs get some brown rice, which is one of the best carbs out there. |

Smash together the following in a mortar and pestle
1 teaspoon chilli
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon mixed dried herbs (thyme, oregano, rosemary, etc)
Pinch of salt & pepper
Roll your chicken breast around in it to cover all the flesh. There should be enough spice for 2 breasts. Quickly seal both sides in a fry pan, through some foil over the pan and stick it in the oven for 20 - 30 mins
Tastes like Portuguese chicken if you've ever had that. Fan-bloody-tastic. |

Do not eat packaged frozen meals!!!
I used to eat these all the time when I was very skinny and trying to bulk up. I remember I used to eat plenty of those Hungry Man lasagnas. One serving comes in at a whopping 800-900 calories, and it's really not even that much food. I'd eat it with a large glass of milk and I was satiated for only an hour or so. The result? Massive weight gain, which is what I was going for, but I also ended up with a 33" waist. I haven't eaten that crap in a long time and I've dropped to a 29" waist. Chunky soup and trans-fat loaded canned chili were also some of my favourites. Even the low-cal dinners are horrible for you, and believe me, if it's below 400-500 cals, chances are it's not going to come close to filling you up, and you'll be eating again an hour later.
Prepare your own food. Good, whole, real food that will fill you up and feed your muscle. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
