How to properly consume proteins for a chubby?

I started working out at the gym regularly. I am a chubby person so obviously I want to lose weight and gain muscles.

Having said that, what do you recommend I eat? How about protein shakes?
I've read a lot that since you work out a lot you need lots of proteins, is that still valid for a chubby guy?

Any recommendations are welcomed...

more info is needed. how much do you weigh, how old and all that. Having been a chubby person there are alot of factors. Eating more may not be the best idea.

give more details so the peeps here can help yoiu.

Yes, you do need to be consuming quite a bit of protein (to preserve muscle), but your total caloric intake is the magic number. Since you are trying to lose bodyfat, you need to consume less calories than you burn, plain and simple.

Here's what I am doing:

My calorie intake did not change ever since I stared working out. However, what changed, is what I consume. I used to eat a lot of junk food which I am reducing. Also, I started eating more fruits and veggies rather than candies.

You are on the right track. Having a protein shake after your workout is essential. Other than that try and eat more vegetable sources of protein (beans, nuts) and stay away from fatty meats. Try to have a serving of protein and a serving of green vegetables with every meal. A good trick is to steam up some veges before every meal, eat them and wait for 15 minutes before eating the rest of your food. You will be full quickly and will eat less. Keep away from the junk food, have a bag of almonds with you at all times to ward of the cravings.
